~Three~
Maya's POV:
I walked around campus with my new friend Syrus, who I had met at the entrance exam. "So, Sy, how has your day been so far?" I asked.
"Good-ish. I'm all set to find my dorm. Hey look, there's Jaden!"
Sy and I ran up to the guy Jaden I'd met at the exam. "Hey Jaden, are you in the red dorm too?" I asked excitedly.
Jaden nodded. "Sweet! Ironic, isn't it? Meeting the girl with the blue-eyes ultimate dragon at the exam, and now she's in the same dorm as me? Awesome!"
I blushed, giggling a bit.
"Hey Bastion," Jaden said to a guy passing in yellow. "Are you in the red dorm too?"
"Hm, let's see," Bastion said, "yellow jacket, yellow buttons, no, I don't think so."
Jaden laughed. "Oh, yeah, right."
Syrus and Jaden left to go to the red dorm and I stayed to talk with Bastion and a girl who introduced herself to me as Ashly Truesdale, an Obelisk blue.
"Well, I guess I'd better go," I said, smiling as I hurried off. "See ya round!"
As I headed towards the dorm, whistling, the guy who had been at the exam who looked like a woman stepped out of the woods. "Ah, Maya, just the person I was hoping to see!" the man exclaimed. "You have been relocated from your original dorm room. I will show you the way!"
I sighed. "All right then," I said.
The man introduced himself as Dr. Crawler, the head of the Obelisk dorms. He led me to a dorm room and knocked. A familiar Kuriboh-shaped head poked out of the door. "Oh, hey Teach. What's up? Am I in detention already?"
Something seemed off.
"No, I'm just here to introduce you to your new roommate," Crawler said. He pushed me in front of him to face Jaden Yuki!
"No, wait, seriously, there must be some mistake! This is the boys' dorm room!" I exclaimed as Crawler pushed me inside.
"Because you were late to the exam," Crawler hissed, "you were punished. I see this as a fitting punishment!"
The door slammed behind me.
Two other heads turned to look at me. Syrus and a guy I didn't know.
"Hey Sy," I said awkwardly.
Jaden cleared his throat. "Guys, this is our new roommate, Maya. Sy, you know her, Chumley, this is Maya Devlin."
Chumley eyed me, then rolled over and fell asleep.
Lively roommates, for sure.

I walked with Jay and Sy to a duel building, which, by mouth of two Obelisk students, we learned was an Obelisk only zone. We were then introduced to the infamous Chazz Princeton and a girl he had with him named Amber. I could tell she was cowering in his presence, and I couldn't help but wonder why.
We were all pretty tired, so we went back to the dorm for our welcome dinner. Then we met Professor Banner, our head of the Slifer dorm.
Afterwards, we hung out in the dorm until Jaden's pager buzzed with a message. It was from Chazz.
"Hey, slacker, don't think you're off the hook. Meet me at the duel building, tonight, at midnight." Beep.
"What do you think, should we go?" I asked.
"Why not? I've got a game!" Jaden exclaimed excitedly.
Chumley rolled over to face us. "If that's Chazz you're dueling, all you've got is trouble," he said as we left.
As soon as we stepped into the duel building, it was clear that we were kinda late. Okay, make that really late.
Chazz leaned over to Amber, who was with him, and whispered something in her ear. She rolled her eyes, but he grabbed her sleeve and hissed something else. She looked at us and said, "So the dorks showed up."
Something was off with how she had said that. I decided not to press anything, and I let Jaden up onto the stage.
Those two really duked it out! (Expression from my bro) That is, until campus security showed up and we had to get the heck outta there. The three of us slept knowing Jaden would have won, if not for security. Rest assured I was not looking forward to my next encounter with Chazz and Amber the Puppet.
