Maya's POV:

"Maya!" Jaden shouted as he ran up to me in the field, laughing.

I grinned. "Hi, Jay!"

Jaden caught my hand. "Great job today!"

He smiled and kissed my cheek. "You're one of the best duelists I know."

"HUG ATTACK!" was my reply, tackling him to the ground in a hug. Jaden burst out laughing, countering my attempt to trap him by wrapping his Slifer jacket around me and zipping it up.

I shrieked with laughter, trying to get free. When I finally broke out, Jaden flipped me over, pinning my shoulders to the ground.

Something had changed. Beyond Jaden's head and shoulders, the sky was darkening. As was all the grass. Jaden's lips met mine, but there was something too forceful in the kiss.

When he pulled back, he was totally changed. His eyes were gold, and he was wearing some sort  of black armor.

"I hope you like the dimension, Maya. Trust you'll be ruling it someday," he said. It was Jaden's voice but not Jaden's voice. I started to struggle away, but Jaden held me fast.

"Maya, someday you'll be begging for me to not let you go."

Again, struggle.

Whoever this guy was, I didn't like him. At all. Even as I struggled out of his grasp, I could hear Jaden's real voice screaming, "MAYA! MAYA!!!!"

-----

"MAYA!"

"Waaaaagh!" I screamed, punching out for the first thing I saw- which happened to be poor Syrus.

"Oof!" he shouted as he hit the floor. "Why can't she ever be dreaming in defense mode?"

(Actual 4Kidz dialogue)

I sat up, jumping up to help him. "Sorry, Sy!"

Syrus brushed off my concern. "Forget that, we have to go! Bastion and Jaden are in trouble!"

I was up in an instant, running out the door. Sy led me to an Amazon-style arena, nodding.

"What's this? More guests?" a warrior-looking woman asked.

Jaden turned around. "Maya?"

Behind me, Ash and Amber ran in, both panting heavily.

The warrior girl's eyes widened. "Oh, hello, new girls."

While the duel progressed, Bastion explained briefly what was happening.

When I had the full understanding, I asked Bastion, "Do you think you can help me out really quick?"

Bastion nodded. "I owe you one, anyway."

"Huh?"

"When I lost the duel to Tania and then she dumped me, Jaden said, 'Would I be crying on the floor if Maya broke up with me?' I said, 'Technically, yes, but I see your point.' I stepped into girl's shoes for a second."

I nodded. "Okay. So, last night, I had this nightmare-" and I proceeded to tell the story of my strange dream.

"Perhaps this is a Spirit that wants something from you. Other than that, I can't say. I'd advise you to forget about it," Bastion said.

I nodded. "Okay Bastion. Thanks."

Of course, Jaden won, which was sick to see, and then we went back to the Academy, all of us unsure what would happen next.
