Maya's POV:

I watched Ashly sitting by Atticus's bed, crying slightly. "Atticus, please come back, I can't lose another loved one....." she whispered.

Syrus walked up behind her, putting his hand on her shoulder. I kept my eyes on them as I walked over to where Jaden was laying in his bed.

 "Hey, Jay," I said, kissing his cheek.

"Hiya, Maya," he responding, hand latching around the pendant at his neck. I couldn't help but wonder where he got it, although Alexis said there was a huge story behind it.

Alexis joined Ashly and Sy at her brother's side, smiling softly.

Jaden swung his legs up and over the side of the bed and padded softly over to Atticus, nodding at Lex, Ash and Sy, taking my hand as I dropped into a chair.

"A-Alexis....."

All of our heads snapped up. "Atticus!" Ashly screamed, rushing to hug him. Syrus and Alexis held her back, trying to keep her calm. I focused on the barely conscious boy in front of me.

"Atticus," Alexis said, leaving Ashly in Sy's grip. "You're awake!"

Atticus struggled to raise his hand. "Listen, Alexis, Camula's unbeatable. She will always win, because she has a Shadow charm."

"Does that mean it's hopeless?" Ashly cried, wincing. "I'll never get Zane back?"

Atticus shook his head. "There is a way. Counter a shadow charm with a shadow charm." He looked to the blonde Obelisk and her brother. "Ash, the leather strap around my neck, if you will."

Ashly reached for the strap, pulling it over his head and holding it up. Jaden gasped. "That looks like the other half of my pendant!"

The brunette nodded. "Put the two halves together."

Jaden hung the other strap around his neck, nodding.

"One more thing. Who still has Spirit Locks with a key?"

I raised my hand. "Amber too."

Atticus nodded. "If the time comes, unleash that power."

Alexis took her brother's hand. "Got it, Atticus."

-time skip-

Jaden was doing well, but he was close to losing, I could tell. He had one hope besides the connected pendant.

"Jaden!" I shouted, pulling the lock off my neck. Jaden glanced down at me and I used all the strength I had to throw him the lock. His hand caught the strap and he slipped it around his throat.

Camula laughed. "Your jewelry is no use to him now, girl!"

"Think again!" Jaden shouted, slipping his key into the lock and twisting it. A bright light flowed from the keyhole, adding a card to Jaden's hand. Jaden looked at it, then smiled.

"All right, Camula! I play my facedown, Gravity Bind! Next, I'll use Call of the Haunted to summon Winged Kuriboh. Then I'll play the spell card Transcendent Wings, increasing Winged Kuriboh to a LVL 10 monster! Go, Kuriboh's special ability! Destroy all her monsters!"

"There we go," I muttered as Jaden's final attack came.

"Since that was a Special Summon, I summon Elemental Hero Bubbleman! Since Kuriboh's gone, I can draw two more cards. Next I play the spell card Polymerization, to fuse Clayman and Bubbleman together and bring out, Elemental Hero Mudballman! Direct attack!"

Camula lost. I saw Zane reappear and Crawler appeared in Chazz's pocket, angry. Ashly scrambled to her brother's side, grinning.

I guess everything could go back to somewhat normal now.

Maybe I spoke too soon.
