Amber's POV:

"ACHOO!" I sneezed. Today was gonna be a sick day.

JK. I didn't feel like going to class.

I flopped back on my bed, yawning. It was nice to have a room to myself. My dorm was even right next to Chazz's, which Chazz and I had insisted on so we could converse about stuff.

All Jaden had said was, "Try anything and we'll both run right to Banner."

Which had made both of us blush and run into our separate rooms.

I closed my eyes and was about to go to sleep when the door burst open and Chazz stomped into the room, flopped on the floor and screamed.

Instantly I shot up in bed, launching over to him. "What did Jaden do now, Chazzykins?"

Chazz sat up. "My brothers are trying to take over Duel Academy. I have to duel Slade."

"Easy enough," I said excitedly, "You can take him!"

"With monsters with 1000 or less attack points only."

I froze. "But that's not fair!" I exclaimed.

Chazz sighed. "I know, but my deck's too powerful. I just have this idiot," he said, holding up Ojama Yellow.

Contemplate moment.

"Banner said something about an old well with unwanted cards in it."

"Let's go then!"

-5 minutes later-

"You know, you don't have to follow me everywhere," Chazz griped as Jaden and Maya tailed behind us.

"Yeah, but who's gonna look out for you if you get jumped by angry duel spirits? The whole academy's counting on you, Chazz!" Jaden fired back.

"You heard Banner, it's probably just a myth!"

Whoosh. Duel spirits floated over our heads.

"Eh, or not," Chazz muttered.

"Clearly, we were myth-taken," I said.

-three minutes later-

"Hey, look," Jaden exclaimed, "there's the well!"

"What tipped you off, the big hole in the ground?"

We hurried down the ladder and Maya and I went off searching for new cards while Jaden and Chazz looked at all the Ojama-related cards.

I was just about to give up and go back when I heard something like crying. Turning around, I saw a girl of about nine, a duel Spirit, crouched by the rock. Instantly I ran over. "Hey, you okay?"

"No one likes me," she wailed, "because I have zero attack and defense points. If they just looked past outward appearances-"

I picked up her card. "Amber-Eyes Maiden?" I read.

She nodded. "I'm nothing, I can't be used!"

I slipped the card into my deck. "I think you're pretty, and according to this, you have a sick special effect!"

So Chazz got his deck, and I got a whole new monster with an amazing special effect.

-two hours later-

Chazz was sure holding his own, he would lose fast if something didn't happen.

"This is the last move I'll need to make, bro!" Slade shouted, drawing a card.

"Attack!"

"Chazz!" I shouted. The ravenette turned towards me. I pulled a card from my deck and tossed it with a perfect slice shot. Chazz caught the card, looked at it, then smiled.

"Not so fast! I summon Amber-Eyes Maiden!"

"It's my turn, moron!" Slade exclaimed.

"Because of the Maiden's special effect, I can summon her when you attack me. She also directs all attacks to her but she can't be destroyed by battle. Then, the attacking player takes 3000 points of damage if she's in attack mode."

"No!" Slade exclaimed.

"Yes!" I shouted as the monsters faded away.

I sprinted onto the stage and threw my arms around Chazz's neck, giving him a hard kiss and a, "I knew you could do it, Chazz!"

The Princeton brothers just stared at us as Chazz gave me a rare Chazz smile. "Thanks, Amber. I couldn't have done it without you."

He handed me back my card and I chuckled, "Now you're being modest? Go back to being the Chazz I know and love, the total jerk I can relate to!"

Both of us laughed.

"What the hell, Chazz!" Jagger exclaimed. "First you complain about the homeless girl attending this place, then you love her? What is wrong with you?"

He grabbed the front of my Slifer jacket and shook me. "Stay away from Chazz, I'm warning you."

Chazz pulled his brother away from me. "You can't tell me who I can and can't date. It's not the money she has, or doesn't have, but the personality under her pretty face that counts! Now get out. You are not my brothers."

Aaaaaand burned.

I hugged Chazz as the whole school poured in. "Thank you, Chazz."

He gently hugged me back and we sank to the floor, sighing in each other's embrace.
