Chapter 3
I woke up in darkness. I just had the weirdest dream ever, although, it was pretty epic. I had mind powers that caused Amanda to go flying through the air! I mean, it had to be a dream, right? But, it was really vivid...
I made a move to get out of bed, but I was stopped. Looking down, I saw my hands were chained to the bed post. I tried to move my legs, unsuccessfully, as they were chained to. Panic started to settle in as I looked around the room. This wasn't my bedroom. It was a small room, barely big enough for anything other than the small single bed and a chair. Judging from the slant of the ceiling, it was situated under a staircase. There was a small window, the size of an A5 sheet of paper above my head. Suddenly, the weight of the situation kicked in. Was I kidnapped? Where the hell was I? So, I did the most practical thing I could think of at the moment. Scream.
"O MY GOD, WHERE THE HELL AM I, WHY THE HELL AM I CHAINED TO THE FREAKING BED, SOMEONE HELP ME, I'VE BEEN KIDNAPPED! THEY'RE PROBABLY GONNA KILL ME! OH MY GOD SOMEONE SAVE ME! I DON'T WANNA DI-" Suddenly, the door opened, and there appeared Colton.
"Will you please stop screaming!" He yelled back, frustrated.
"What the hell are you doing here? Did they get you too? Do you know where we are? God, mum is gonna kill me! I-"
"Don't you remember what happened?" Colton interrupted my rant, looking at me with concerned eyes.
"What do you mean?" I replied, looking at his eyes, trying to find even a hint of what was going on.
"The cafeteria? Locking people in? Almost killing Amanda? Breaking the windows? Becoming invisible? Threatening the young girl?"
"How did you know about my dream? Unless..." Unless it wasn't a dream. Unless all of it was real. Unless I really did all that. Which means...
"O my god." I whispered, my eyes wide with realisation.
"What have I done?"
My eyes were trained on the bed as tears leaked from my eyes, streaming down my cheeks, falling onto the sheets below. My body started to shake as I sobbed violently, curling as much into a ball as I could with the restraints.
"Is anyone hurt?" I whispered, loud enough for Colton to hear.
"Amanda suffered critical injuries and is currently in a stable condition. A few others have minor cuts, the young girl was in shock but recovered." He said softly.
God. They didn't deserve that. I can't believe I did that. I lowered to their level. I'm just as bad as them, worse even. Wait, but how did I do everything?
"What am I? And why am I here?" I asked Colton.
"You don't know?" He asked, a look of confusion flashed across his face before it was replaced with his usual calm demeanour.
"Umm, am I meant to?" I asked with just as much confusion.
"Sh-"
"No swearing! I am a swear free person!" I replied before he could finish.
"Shoot."
"Better. Now, can I get some answers?"
"Not yet. You need to wait for John to get here."
"Can't you at least let me out?" These chains were starting to kill me. There were red lines starting to appear where they were chafing me.
"Sorry, but no."
I huffed in frustration. The restraints were starting to annoy me, and then Hot shot over here can't even explain why I am...wherever I am.
"Is this some kind of joke? I mean, it's not like I can control anything by thinking about it...Wait! What if I just..." I imagined the cuffs opening. Satisfied when I heard a click, I saw Colton's eyes widen slightly as he made a grab for me. Rolling off the bed, I made a run for it through the door and up the stairs. Seconds later, footfalls could be heard behind me. I imagined myself invisible as I tip-toed behind the couch. I suddenly felt his presence sweeping the room, trying to find me. I roughly pushed him out.
"Vi! Don't do this! You are very dangerous right now, so we have to be cautious!"
"I am not a monster!" I yelled back. Without warning, the windows shattered, glass shards aiming directly at Colton.
"STOP!" I screamed. Suddenly, the see through shards fell like rain onto the floor. I felt tears come forth as I fell to a foetal position on the hard polished wooden floorboard, hands to my ears, trying to block out the sound of the glass. I felt my invisibility drop as I squeezed my eyes shut, praying to God I wasn't a monster. That I was still a good girl. I never stepped out of line, ever. Why did I deserve this?
Colton took a step closer to me and more tears came out.
"Don't come near me." I whispered, "I might hurt you. I don't know, I can't help it. Please, stay away."
I felt him near me as he crouched down to my level.
"Vi, it's not your-"
"Don't finish that sentence."
It was my fault. I wanted him to shut up. And then the glass broke. If it weren't for my instinct, he'd be...dead. More tears streamed from my eyes as he came nearer.
"Please don't come any closer. Please." I whimpered and flinched from his soft hand as it grazed my arm.
I suddenly wished I was somewhere else. Anywhere else. Then, I heard Colton swear before I was no longer in a house. There was a 'pop' sound as I opened my eyes finding myself in a woodland. And the only words I could think of were:
What the hell?
