Chapter 16

I woke up the next morning in Cloud Nine alone. Winter had probably already woken up. The sun was still behind the walls in front of me, so it wasn't shining on my face. I yawned and crawled over to the small hole. Slowly going down the rope ladder, I stretched my tense muscles, sore from the position I slept in.

Walking down the corridor, I reached my blue door and went in, closing the door behind me. Walking into the ensuite, I nearly screamed at my appearance.

My hair was a cacophony of birds' nests and my lips were cracked and dry, a white trail of dried saliva going from the corner of my mouth to my chin. My PJs were crumpled from moving around in my sleep. My brown eyes were bloodshot and bags were under my eyes. It was then that I decided to check the time. Walking outside of the ensuite, I checked the clock on the wall which read 7:00. 'Well, that's just poo.' I thought as I went into the walk in to get ready for the day.

I pull on a nice summer dress as I remember what we are doing today. 'Shopping.' I thought with a groan. Pulling my hair into a ponytail, I pulled on a cardigan, looking at the trees blowing in the wind. Walking down the stairs, I was greeted by the unmistakable scent of...

"PANCAKES!" I shouted as I sprinted down the stairs and into the dining room. There, I found everybody awake and ready with a humungous stack of pancakes in the middle of the table, seemingly untouched.

"You're finally awake! I swear, any longer, we would have thought you were in a coma or something!" Said Sam with Joey nodding in agreement. Colton just chuckled and Winter held out a plate for me, along with a pair of knives and forks.

Thanking her (whilst poking my tongue at the twins behind her), I quickly went to sit down. I was about to reach for the pancakes when I noticed that none of them had touched one. I was about to ask why, but Colton told me before I could ask.

"We have this tradition where every time we make pancakes, we wait for the last person to come to the table. The last person has to eat the whole plate, or else they are tickle tortured. That's why we were all dressed and ready when you got down here, so...the plate in the middle of the table is yours." I stared at him with wide eyes. He couldn't be serious! There were like, 50 pancakes in that stack! They all seemed to seemed to notice my shock.

"Don't worry! You get half an hour to finish it all!" Winter said, trying to be cheerful. My mouth just dropped further. Half an hour?! 50 pancakes?!

Thinking up an excuse, I quickly blurted out, "But what will you guys eat? I mean, I only see pancakes, so..." I looked up at them, a small triumphant smile on my lips. It was quickly wiped away by Colton's own triumphant smile.

"Well, if you lose, you get tickle torture and you have to pay for our breakfast. If you win, you get to choose someone else to buy food for the others, and they become your personal slave for a day." Suddenly, a wicked smile came across my face. 50 pancakes, for the price of a slave? Oh, I WILL win.

"Let the eating commence!" I shouted, stuffing the pancakes into my mouth. Ten minutes in, I had already eaten half of them, and everyone was just staring at me in silent shock until Joey started chanting my name. Five minutes to go, and there was one pancake left. Everyone was shouting my name now. Well, except for Colton. He just continued to stare.

Stuffing the last pancake into my probably stretched beyond limits mouth, I gulped it down.

Cheers erupted from Winter and the twins. They congratulated me and suddenly, they all stopped talking at once, as if they realised something at the same time.

"So...who will take the punishment?" Winter asked in anticipation.

An evil smirk washed onto my face and I was staring at Winter when I said his name.
