Chapter 8
The drive was silent. But, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't help but admire everything, even through my sorrows. The tree lined avenues and beautiful villas were all over the neighbourhood. We suddenly turned into a court, and after driving a few more metres, I was blown away at the sight.
When John said mansion, he really wasn't kidding.
The Maserati pulled up next to a metal pole with a pin pad attached to it. Colton quickly pushed the number combination in and the wrought iron gates opened automatically.
A big white mansion stood proud before me. There were gigantic pillars that seemed to hold up the ceiling, and an outdoor chandelier hung from it. Glowing golden lights could be seen inside. Colton seemed to sense my wonder.
"One of the mutants here used their powers to win the lottery. They got 75 million, so, were basically loaded. The mansion was bought a few years ago. It had cost $50 million, but it's worth it in the end."
I couldn't stop looking at the amazing piece of architecture in front of me and I simply nodded at Colton's words. The car drove al the way tot he back of the mansion and I could easily see the indoor swimming pool inside. Then I noticed the cars.
"Are these all yours?" I asked.
"No! There are others here who own their own cars, and they just all decided on buying expensive cars with their share of the money, so..."
I swear, loaded wasn't even reaching how rich these guys looked.
There were four cars and a mini bus, all parked in an underground car park that still had an additional five spaces left. There was a grey Lamborghini Veneno, a red Lycan Supersport, a yellow Bugatti Veyron Super Sports, and a white Vantare Platinum Plus. What? I like my cars. I felt a dip as Colton drove into the garage and parked in one go.
Lights immediately turned on at the sudden movement of the car. I heard a chuckle beside me and turned to find Colton staring at me.
"A Vantare Platinum Plus?!" I practically shouted.
"Wait, you know cars?" said Colton, a look of amusement on his face.
"So what?" I mumbled. He chuckled and went out the door. Not wanting to be left alone, I quickly followed him. I suddenly felt his presence in my mind. He was reaching throughout the mansion, no doubt finding everyone who lived here. I continued to follow him though doors and up stairs until we were at the highest level of the house. The inside of the house was beautiful, with bright white carpets that looked as if they were bought two seconds ago lining the floor. I had already passed two kitchens, both of which were easily the size of my old living room. Colton suddenly stopped and I looked around to see that we were in the living room.
A floor to ceiling window took up the whole wall that showed a view of the whole back yard. The opposite wall held a large flat screen TV, and in front of it was the largest couch I had ever seen. It was also white, and was 'C' shaped, creating a semicircle around a coffee table.
"You can wait in here while the others arrive."
I nodded and walked around the couch before sitting down. I refused to think about my mother, in case I did something stupid. Instead, I continued to look at the immaculate white walls, lined with black trimmings with had elaborate swirls and curls coming off of them, giving them an elegant look.
I suddenly heard noises down the corridor and turned to see two boys who looked identical to each other enter the room, except one had a pair of blue eyes and the other green eyes. They both had blond hair and slightly tanned skin from playing outside. Their hair was blond and slightly tousled. They were wearing t-shirts and khaki shorts. They looked young, around my age.
