While filming the movie 'The Exorcist', many actors got injured, the set burned down, a Priest was brought in several times to bless the set, and the actor who played Burke, Jack MacGowran, died of Influenza.
People believe that the movie is cursed.
Reasons why
1. The movie is based off a REAL event.
2. Actors Jack MacGowran, and Vasiliki Maliaros both died while the film was in post-production. Their characters died in the film as well.
3.Many believed that the actual film was cursed and that playing it through a projector was an invitation for demonic possession.
4. Televangelist Billy Graham stated, "There is a power of evil in the film, in the fabric of the film itself."
5. When it was first released the film was banned in every Middle Eastern country but Lebanon (the re-release was banned in Lebanon).
6.During the Roman premiere, audiences had to fight their way through a torrential downpour accompanied by thunder and lightening, in order to get in to the theater. Many inside claimed to hear a horrific, almost demonic cry, coming from outside once the film started rolling
7. The McNeil house was burned during a studio fire.
