AKA this is a smut warning, it's basically just the final third of the chapter, build-up is slow so you'll know when to nope tf out if that isn't your kinda thing. If that IS your thing, wow, its ur lucky day big boys
*Dan's POV*
I flattened myself against the window, casting a glare to my right where Chris was indifferently splayed across the middle seat and taking up as much space as humanly possible. The car was small, incredibly so, but he didn't seem to care in the slightest. Thankfully, for once, he was peacefully quiet. None of us were particularly comfortable with the fact that we were no longer the only ones involved in the effort to save Phil, and it showed in the silence that had enveloped our group since the newcomers had arrived.
Troye and Tyler seemed equally as tense where they sat in the front seats, leaving the three of us to suffer with the limited space in the back. I was growing increasingly anxious the longer the trip to the hospital seemed to drag on, growing antsy with the limited space and start to shove Chris away whenever he tried to invade my personal space again.
Eventually, he seemed to tire of fighting me away, and turned his attention to the passenger's seat up front. He leaned forward, resting his chin against the headrest and eyeing Troye.
"So, you can read minds, huh?" He questioning, completely ignoring the warning glances both Pj and Tyler shot him in unison. I wanted to scold him as well, but I couldn't deny my own curiosity toward my neighbor's powers. Could it really be considered prying when you were dealing with someone that could hear your every thought? Was it really so cruel to expect him to answer some questions about it?
Tyler seemed to think so, given the murderous way he was glaring at Chris in the overhead mirror.
"... Yes." Troye answered cautiously, turning to lock eyes with Chris. I studied the exchange closely, watching as they silently acknowledged each other for a long moment before Chris shrugged and fell back into his seat.
"That must have been shitty growing up." He commented indifferently, sounding vaguely bored with the new revelation. Troye seemed insulted, despite the fact he'd been shooting daggers a moment ago for being asked about his powers, he seemed equally as insulted that Chris was dismissing it so easily.
"No kidding." He huffed indignantly, twisting around in his seat to stare straight ahead again. An idea seemed to strike Chris then and before Pj could pull him back, he was half in the front with a hand pressed to the side of Troye's face. His eyes were wide with childlike wonder, though that did little to negate how inappropriate his actions were.
"What am I thinking about right now?" It sounded less like a question and more like a demand. Troye seemed taken aback for a moment, startled as thoughts that weren't his own presumably flickered through his mind, and then he was jerking away with a disgruntled shriek. He didn't even hesitate this time before using all of his force to shove Chris into the backseat, looking deeply unamused.
"You're disgusting." Troye declared, looking back and forth between both Pj and I for any signs of disapproval. Neither of us chose to stand up for the idiot sat between us, instead shrugging and rolling our eyes. I didn't want to give him a sense of false hope that Chris would get better, what you see was pretty much exactly what you got with him.
Troye gave a deep sigh and shot a final reprimanding look in Chris's direction, before slumping down in his seat again and officially ending the exchange. Though, as I watched him turn to look out the window, I caught the trace of a smile on his lips in the reflection of the glass. Methods strange as they were, there really wasn't any denying that the tension in the vehicle had depleted considerably after Chris had made an idiot out of himself like usual.
