"All set?" my hands adjusted his tie, smoothing down his Navy jacket. His suit was perfectly fine and fitted around him elegantly like always, what wasn't fine however was him. The tiny sweat beads forming on his forehead and the constant lips licking indicated how nervous he was. "Yep." He responded fast, bouncing on his heels. "Honey it's okay, take your time." I moved my hands from the jacket to grab his hands, the were so cold. I lightly squeezed them and he let out an exhale that seemed to carry a lot of weight, "What if she win? What am I gonna do if I lose?" Robert intoned, fixing his glimpse down on me. His face was starting to get paler. I flashed him a kind smile that'd hopefully wash away the nerves, "She will not, please relax for me. Everything will be over in few hours and you'll be walking out of that place a winner and well, a future father." The last two words had an immediate effect on him, his tensity eased up a bit. "You've got this." I put my arms around him and pulled him into a warm hug.

"Thank you for being in my life." Robert said softly, "I love you." He mumbled next to my ear not letting go, "Not as much as I do." I moved my hand up and down his back and he pulled away. He opened his mouth, ready to object, "We're not going to debate who loves who more now, we have a trial to attend." I shushed him with a kiss and he laughed, "No seriously, we're going to have a very long conversation about it later on."

"We'll see what happens."

We walked out of our house

And hopped into separate cars, just to avoid catching attention.

On the way to court, I couldn't stop thinking of Ace and the possibility of him ruining Robert's fatherhood chance. I kept praying that he wouldn't play his games on him and get his tricks out. I also thought of how I was supposed to see him again after what had happened the day before, I had to pretend that nothing was said and keep it with the regular hi and hello.

We both approached to the courthouse at almost the same time. We parked next to each other and tried to sneak our way inside but as expected few papz came out out of nowhere, firing the same old' relationship and touchy question. "Yes thank you for your support." Robert mumbled out of annoyance as soon as we got inside and away from the cameras lights. My stomach began to flip and twist when we passed by men and women in suits and formal dresses, running and moving in every direction.

"Guess you're the worried one now huh," Robert whispered as we stepped inside the elevator that already had two gentlemen in it, the nodded in greeting. Admitting it to him would with out doubt return the negative vibe so for sure I had to deny, keeping my voice as low as possible "I'm not worried at all." I said and he snorted, "Yeah right." He reached out to press the 5th floor button, the courtroom was housed there. The door started to shut close but a familiar hand  stopped it, hurrying to get inside. He came into sight, Ace dressed up neatly as usual in a dark brown suit carrying his famous suitcase that was surely filled with paperwork. "My beloved attorney!" Robert sarcastically announced as he stared at Ace, who was smiling widely at us. He pressed the button again and the elevator closed again. I tried my best to hide somehow, avoiding any contact, pretending to be invisible. Me speaking to him, of course, would upset Robert. "Hey! What a perfect coincidence. How are you doing? You're not stressed, are you?" He kept that stupid smile while talking to Robert too loudly like we were the only people on the elevator. "Not at all, we've got this right?" Robert replied casually, hiding any trace of nervousness. "It's a piece of cake dude, 'course!" He laughed, full of energy and confidence. His laugh echoed in my ears, reminding me that it was only a cover to his sadness as he claimed. I drew in a long breath, "It's gonna be a long day with him, god give me strength." I thought as I let the air out and sadly it drew his attention to me. He titled his head and fixed his gaze on me, "Hey Michaela, How are you?" He said, his chipper voice made the annoyed look reappear on Robert's face. The air got heavy again.
