5. Eva

I got the job, yes, James must have put in a good word about me. Michael who's the sexiest man I've ever laid my eyes upon, only asked me a few questions and told me to resume on Monday. I had called my best friend/sister and my personal stylist to come over and give me a much needed makeover. When I graduated from law school and I settled in my apartment, my day to day outfits consisted of sweat pants which were all in different shades of brown and not suitable for work.

I laid down my head for a minute before I felt someone staring at me, I opened my eyes and then "woah!" I screamed at the top of my lungs and the silly girl who made me scream like that was just laughing like a mad woman that she is.

"OMG! You should have seen your face, it's gonna be stuck in my memory forever, you looked like a dying elephant" she said.
"What does that even mean, I'm gonna get you sweetie and you're gonna regret ever scaring me like that".
"Whatever, get ready let's go" she said and sat on my bed, while I got ready.

I got dressed in black leggings and long pink top, I brushed my shoulder-length hair. "How do I look Les?" I asked her. "You look okay, now lets go shopping" she did a small dance while saying it and I couldn't help but laugh.

Twenty minutes later,we were at the mall trying so many clothes, Leslie made me buy a lot of clothes, short skirts and short dresses. She kept saying, I needed to show off my legs, so Michael could see what he was missing, I just bought them to please her, if I tried to argue with her, we might not leave the mall today, of course not all them were short, I bought some I really liked.

After a long and stressful day, we went back to my place, where Leslie prepared dinner while I showered, she's really the best. I went to meet her in the kitchen when I was done, to see that she had prepared my favourite fried rice and chicken.

"OMG Les, you're the best! This is so delicious, thanks" I said while eating. "You're welcome, I left some for you, you could heat it up when you get back from work tomorrow."

"What would I do without you?" I said smiling, "Nothing, you'd be useless" she replied, I rolled my eyes and continued with my food.
"I'm nervous about tomorrow, you know I really want to please Michael, James put in good words for me and I don't want to disappoint him" I said after a while.

"Please,you're really good at what you do, you were born with this gift Eva, it's time for the world to see it, seriously" She replied me.

"It's time for you to shine like a Star" she added.

"Ooooh it's time for you to shine bright like a diamond" I just stared at her, "really, 'shine bright like a diamond'?" I said, shaking my head, I've said it before, this girl is nuts.

"You know like Rihanna, laugh all you want, you're going there tomorrow to do what you know how to do and also make Michael fall in love with you,okay?" She looked at me and when I didn't answer she asked again. "Eva, okay?"

"Okay" I acceded.

After a while, Leslie left and I felt alone, like really alone, I then realized how alone I was. Asides Leslie and James, I didn't have any other relationship with anybody with the exception of Leslie's mum, Anna, who took me like her own daughter, no friend,no boyfriend, nada. I then remembered him, the man who was unfortunately my father, he chased away the only guy that ever loved me, because he thought he was nobody, and because his father didn't have millions in his account.

I really don't think I could love anybody the way I loved him, Victor and I were the perfect high school couple, he was the most popular guy in school on the basket ball team and he was very handsome, tall, athletic, blonde hair, he was my Romeo, when he had asked me out, I felt like a princess, I mean everybody wanted this guy, he was too handsome and also very charming. Even though he didn't come from wealth, his parents weren't poor either, just a simple middle-class family, his mom was a teacher while his dad owned a grocery store, they were very welcoming and they had loved me and treated me as their daughter, his mom always joked on how I'd make a good wife for her son.

Victor had made me feel like the only girl in the world, from romantic dates, to holding hands and slight kisses in school, we'd stay up all night in his room talking about our dreams, he wanted to be a doctor. I really hoped he had achieved his dream by now, he was so intelligent, Victor was the man every girl wished she had and my stupid father had made me lose him. "Thanks dad" I said out loud.

Last I heard about Victor Adams was from Facebook, with some blonde chick, I felt so jealous so, I deleted him from my Facebook. It really hurts to know he's moved on, I don't blame him though, my dad threatened him pretty badly, he had so much ahead of him and I guess it wasn't just worth risking for me.

I tossed and turned on my bed that night, as if that wasn't bad enough, I had a nightmare where my dad came to my house , forcing me to come home with him and beating me up when I refused. It was late or rather, pretty early in the morning when I finally fell asleep, like 4am and I woke up two hours later to get ready for work.

I arrived my new work place at exactly  8:00 am and went straight to my boss's office to find out just what I'd be doing today.

"Good morning Mr Mark" I said strolling into his office, which was slightly open, which is why I didn't knock, I'm not rude.

"Hey Eva, how are you today" He said looking up from his laptop, he was so warm and friendly, I couldn't help but smile.

"I'm fine sir, just came to find out what would I'd be doing today "

"Please call me Mike, everyone else calls me that, I like my employees to warm up to me,you know? When they're scared of you, we won't be able to share ideas and communicate, so Mike will do, Eva"

"Ok si...Mike"

"Yes thank you, well, there's a new project we're working on, my good friend Riley; an actress, just bought a new house, 10 bedrooms, living room, Katie my assistant will give you the layout. She wants to move in, in three weeks, think we can make that happen?"

"Yes sir of course, I'd just like to know her style and any specific colors"

"Meet Katie, she'll answer your questions"

I released a breath I didn't realize I was holding when I left his office, yes he was a nice and easy going kinda person, but the way he spoke was very much intimidating, I had to prove myself with this job to Mike. I'm going to give this Riley's house project my all.
