Charles
That's it. I'm falling for her, I must be, because my actions just proved it and I was fighting myself from this feeling while making my way back to the tents, but it's no use anymore. I almost kissed her- no, I was about to kiss her. Just that realization made my back shiver. It had been a few days since I last saw her and I couldn't stop replaying that moment in my head. I had time to observe her beautiful features and my God was she blessed. From her deep brown eyes that grabbed its richness from the earth's soil, to her plump lips that were just thick enough to compliment her facial structure. Furthermore her body, she had an hour glass body figure that her melanin skin rested on. Definitely nothing I had ever seen, or could ever imagine. She was so close to me, that I can recall her presence that became glued to my mind in an instant. She was different, and I began to like different.
"What's on your leg?" I heard Roy coming in the tent with his eyes widened.
"Snake bite."
"All I see is leaves, Charles," his eyes rested on me, full of sarcasm. I forgot to take the leaves out. Great. I gently discarded the minty leaves off that ran out of their original scent and consumed most of my blood and showed him the two vicious marks on the back of my calf.
"Where in the hell did you find a snake at? Did you go on an adventure by yourself today?" He asks, a bit irritated. I knew I couldn't get away with this one given that he's an adventurer more than anyone I've known. He loves to face danger and I knew he would loved facing that snake that I never noticed was around me.
"Yes, Roy." I began, "but no worries, I'll let you know when I plan my next move." I regretted this immediately after I said it. Mainly because my original plan of the adventure was overturned completely.
He wasn't the only one who became suspicious of my whereabouts. It began with him, then my sisters, then my father, then the rest of the settlers. That's when I put a halt to my adventures, fearing that Naomi might think that I have abandoned her. I actually longed to see her again. I still hadn't forgotten the words that she taught me in her language and I planned on reminding myself of those words constantly. I wrote them down on my journal, but to a page that no one could get to, as soon as they opened it. Someone like Roy especially and his cunning self.
"We have to find where that villager is from and bring in her kind to be workers here," said Mr. Anderson. They have been trying to find the location of Naomi's village for a couple of days now so they could give 'pay back' to her kind. I guess vengeance secretly grew amongst the settlers with Naomi's escape, because some of the villagers who had been brought to work here have planned and attempted to escape, only their plans weren't wise enough for it to succeed and they would be caught immediately. Their punishment? I still don't want to think about it. I never wanted to witness them being punished or killed. I know eventually I will adjust to it but I didn't plan to do that just yet. So I would always avoided every punishing scenario.
"Well, I don't think she lives anywhere close to here? she couldn't," another settler who had the same accent from the Americas just like Mr. Anderson added.
"But you!" Mr. Anderson exclaimed, pointing at me. "You might know where she lives, don't you?" All eyes were on me with their face lighting up remembering that I was the one who found her in the first place.
"What? I found her at some forest," I said, "with Roy." I was tired of all the eyes piercing through me from all these settlers. They instantly shifted to Roy as soon as I mentioned his name.
"Wha-what? Uh yes. We found her at some forest, sir," Roy replied completely taken off guard by how quick the conversation landed on him.
"Do you happen to know or remember where this forest is?" Father finally spoke up. Roy's eyes met mine.
