Micah sighed to himself. He glanced down at the small vampire clung to his side. Friday refused to leave him, terrified of possibly losing him again. He really didn't mind the company. Anyone that could complain about having her around must not have a soul. Regardless, he had to continue on with his job. Today was his first day back at it. Meaning, it would be the first time he'd be seeing his sister since revealing that tragic secret nearly two weeks ago.

He knocked on her bedroom door softly. Please, let her be asleep, he thought. His heart was racing when he heard the door open. Thankfully, it was just Felix. Neither of them could disobey Jasper's orders. Yet, Felix was still a little upset with Micah for going through with it. Their reunion was awkward, to say the least.

"If you're here to see her, she's asleep. It's taking her a very long time to recover." He said.

"That's alright. I'm just here to give her her medication, then I'll be out of the way. I promise, I won't wake her." Micah responded.

Felix sighed, letting him in the room. "I take it that means you're back to work, then?"

"Yes," He smiled softly when he felt Friday pull on his coat, "And, of course, this little one has been keeping an eye on me. I'm not back to full health just yet, but I couldn't take being on bed rest much longer. I take it if you're spending your time here, you have yet to return to it?"

"Actually, Jasper's taken me off of the staff. I was kind of shocked that he did, considering everything, but he said he wants me to focus primarily on Marci. Which is something I can happily accept." He smiled softly as he sat down on his side of the bed.

He didn't mean to wake her up. Normally, a little shift in the bed wouldn't. Maybe she was finally starting to get better. She didn't open her eyes, only moved over to be closer to him. Marci rested her head in his lap and muttered, "Don't think I forgot about what you said."

"Was she talking to me or you?" Micah questioned fearfully.

Felix sighed, "Me. I did something that, if you knew, you'd kill me for too. I mean, I'm dead, but I'm pretty sure as soon as she has the energy to do it, she's going to find a way to revive me just so she can kill me."

"You bet your ass. I'm going to kill both of you for lying to me."

"To be fair, we didn't lie to you exactly. We just didn't tell you the truth." He replied.

Marci mustered up the energy to slap him. She was definitely feeling a lot better now. Micah was relieved to see that even in losing her memory, she was still the sassy girl he missed so dearly. He could remember it as if it was yesterday. Despite how terrible her father was to her, she still managed to stand her ground. In the end, her rebellion was what got her killed.

"I know you're angry with me. Rightfully so. I left you when I shouldn't have, but I've dedicated my life to fixing my mistakes. I left the family because I had been turned and I didn't trust myself around humans. When I found out you'd left home, I gave everything to find you. I even gave away my soul. I'm sorry I abandoned you and I failed to protect you."

She opened her eyes and looked over to her older brother. Now that she could remember his voice, it meant so much more to her. "It's alright. If I got turned into a vampire, I'd probably freak the fuck out too. I don't blame you for leaving. And, I don't want you to feel guilty for my death. If I'd never died the way I did, I would've never become what I am, and I would've never met Felix or anyone else in the manor."

"I suppose that's true." Micah sat down on the edge of the bed and gently grasped her hand. "If it weren't for Jasper, I would've never gotten my soul back, and I would've never gotten you back. I owe him more than I could ever repay him."
