Myra complied with going to rehab. Michael took the kids to visit her as much as he could. He saw the progress she made as she grew less dependent and focused on other things.
She was put through many group session and individual sessions. She also went through grief counseling for her dad's death was the foot of it all. Myra was also allowed to take a dance therapy session every once in a while, but it wasn't like how she danced on stage.
She had gone over the twelve step programs in the evenings. In her free time she wrote songs that she hopex to release. The dance therapy allowed her to come up with her own choreography.
When she was finally released, Myra was back in the public eye. She was looking at acting in more movies since her Star Wars character, Kareena Oma, had been killed off. She had been sent a script for a movie called The Ring which involved some cursed video tape.
Myra had been given the part of Billie Wheeler, a friend of the main character who had seen the tape with the main character. Production for the movie wouldn't begin until 2001, giving time for Myra to do things for her singing career.
Her record sales had been lower than normal. She had decided to release an album that she had been planning for a year. Michael, who had many songs that hadn't made the cut for his albums, have her a song of his called Slave to the Rhythm which was released as a single.
The album, Just Like Fire, had been a success, but it didn't beat Starboy which had become one of the top selling albums. She knew it would never beat Thriller, but when was proud of it either way.
She also took the chance to adopt another dog. She adopted a puggle named Marbles without Michael knowing. The kids loved both Peach and Marbles and often played with them in the backyard.
Prince had reached the age of four while Paris was soon to turn three. They both had begun talking and walking, making it harder for Michael and Myra to keep up with them.
Myra's sister, Anaya, had made a career for herself. Like her sister, she had taken up singing and was doing pretty good for her first album. They spent more time together and Anaya finally met Paris.
Myra also, like her sister, had to get glasses. She opted for contacts, but only used them if she had to go to some big awards show or an interview.
The pair of glasses sat on her nose as Myra was buried in a book. Michael was upstairs, practicing for a new album he planned to release titled Invincible. Prince and Paris played with Peach and Marbles on the floor.
"Mommy!" Prince whined, catching her attention. "Paris won't share."
"Paris, let Prince have the toy," Myra scolded slightly, "You both can play with them but you have to share."
Paris reluctantly handed over the dog toy. Prince then grew happy as he threw the toy and Marbles happily chased after it. Peach decided to lay on Myra's lap, constantly fidgeting.
She petted Peach's head as she flipped to the next page. She looked up briefly when Michael came down the stairs. He had his hair pulled back as he wiped away sweat from his face with a towel.
"Hey," he greeted as he bent down to her.
"You're sweaty," she laughed as she jokingly pushed his face away.
She eventually gave him a kiss, earning an ew from Prince. They each shared a glance before they kissed again. Michael left to get himself a bottle of water.
He eventually sat beside her, her legs across his lap. "You're reading Harry Potter?" He asked when he saw the title.
"I finally decided to start reading them. I just started Sorcerers Stone," she replied even though she was over halfway finished with the book.
"Just started? You're almost finished," Michael laughed.
"My teachers always said I was a fast reader," replied Myra as she didn't take her eyes off the page.
"Are you taking the job for The Ring?" He asked because the script had been sitting there for days, collecting dust.
"I love the concept of it, so yeah, I'm taking it," Myra confirmed, "but productions not beginning until 2001. That's at least what Shay told me."
"What's it about?" Michael asked as he watched Prince and Paris take turns with playing with Marbles.
"Basically, there's a killer video tape and my character, Billie Wheeler, and the main character, Rachel Keller, watch it," Myra explained, "They have seven days to live before this girl comes and kills them, and they try to figure out what happened and how to stop it."
"I'll watch it," Michael agreed.
"I can't wait for you to see it. Now, I have to go take a shower. Will you keep an eye on them?" She asked as she marked her page in the book.
"I will," he agreed as they kisses before she went upstairs to the bathroom.
She grabbed a new pair of pajamas before she turned the water on. She stripped of her old clothes and stepped underneath the warm water.
She washed hair her, rinsing the conditioner from her hair. When she finally finished her shower, she dried off and put on her new pair of clothes.
She returned downstairs where Michael held Paris, a spoon in his hand, attempting to feed her. Prince played with blocks, building towers until they fell down then he built them again.
"Is she eating?" Myra asked.
"So far," Michael confirmed.
Prince and Paris had always been fussy eaters. It was a rare occasion they would actually eat something you gave them without some trick, or in their case, dancing.
Whenever Prince cried, one of them dancing usually cheered them up. The same went with eating -- when they would smile or laugh, you had the chance to put the spoon in their mouth and they ate it.
Paris ate without one of them having to dance. She went back to Prince who started playing with her again. Myra and Michael leaned back on the couch, watching as they played.
