Michael and Lionel Ritchie had gathered a group of stars for a song they had written. It was called We Are The World and it would help Africa with the famine that had struck the continent.
Michael had sat down with Myra to help her learn the words. When the day came to actually begin the song, some of the best artists were all in one room.
Myra clung onto a cup of coffee she had bought to keep her awake. The project was ending up to be an all nighter. Myra liked her decision to wear her sweatpants and hoodie.
Michael had made sure Myra had got a solo. She didn't know when it was gonna be so she ended up sitting around, talking with the others. She got to know them and they were all nicer than she imagined.
She was in the middle of talking with Tina Turner when her name was called. She retreated to where the microphone hung in front of her and the lyrics were on a music stand. Each of the solo parts had been labeled and she soon found hers.
"Okay Myra, try and make this a good, okay?" One of the men directed and Myra nodded. "The headphones will play you the music if you want to wear them.
Myra held one of them over ear when the director gave the signal. He pointed at her to tell her when to begin singing.
"Send them your heart," Myra sang into the microphone, her eyes skimming the paper. "So they know that someone cares, and their lives will be stronger and free."
The music stopped in the headphones and she lowered it from her ear. She waited for whatever he had to say.
"That was good, but maybe bring your voice out a little more. You're a soloist, not a background singer. Just sing a little louder," he instructed.
"Gotcha," confirmed Myra.
The music began playing once again and he gave her the signal. Myra sang her part once more, taking into account what he had said. She tried to sing louder and she hopes she did okay.
When she finished she heard applause for a single person. Michael had come to listen, his eyes covered with dark glasses and his outfit shined.
"You sound great," he commented as they exchanged hugs.
"Thanks," Myra smiled. "What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to hear how you sound, and it sounds pretty good," Michael expressed.
"Myra, that was really good! That was much better than the last one. You're good," he said and Myra was finished with her recording.
Myra and Michael walked away from the recording area holding hands. Michael's hands were bigger than hers, his hand dwarfing hers, making her seem smaller in comparison.
Another singer was called back to do their recording, leaving the rest to their own. Not everybody had a solo, and they seemed almost to the end. Michael and Myra stayed to themselves as the soloists all finished up.
Michael introduced her to Diana Ross who was beyond nice. Michael had to be called back for something, leaving Myra with Diana.
"He really likes you," Diana mentioned once Michael had left. "Its obvious by the way he looks at you. Do you like him back?"
"Kind of, yeah," answered Myra in a breath. "He's really nice and everything is amazing about him."
Diana was about to speak again when they were all gathered around. Michael returned to Myra, taking her hand again. They listened to what he had to say.
"Now were gonna film the big group scene. We're going to line you all up on the risers so it may take a few minutes," he stated.
Everyone was told where to stand. The taller people were up too while the shorter people were at the bottom. Myra was in the middle, in between Michael and Diana.
The group scene took the longest to sing. Sometimes the group was split to where the higher voices consisting of Myra and others had the lyrics while the lower voices sang chords. It was either that or the other way around at some parts.
When the announcement came they had officially finished, everyone applauded. Everyone left the building to go back to their home and get some sleep. Michael went with Myra where she drove them both back to her place.
They slept until a little past noon. That day they decided to mainly stay in bed since having slept past noon. The tv was on a low volume as Myra showed him the songs she had written for the album. She just had to record a few more.
The one she was most proud of was T.K.O. She didn't know where ahe had the inspiration from, but it was probably the best on the album. It was the first song she had recorded.
