Chapter 11

Equality is a term used to describe the paralysis of importance. In the way equality is constructed, understanding becomes a mean to achieve it in psychological stage. Ethan read another page from The Sociological Effect Of Morality Upon The Community. Feeling a bit aloof from reality, Ethan lay on the couch as William busily blended some coffee for the two of them.

William had his bruises still visible so Ethan tried his best to take his sight away, still feeling awful from being cowardice. Ethan covered the view with the book he was reading. However, the vision came too formidable for him to avoid. William insisted on coming over as a form of consolation to his act to which Ethan came submissive about.

“Milk or Caramel?” William asked as he opened two containers simultaneously. He winked.

“Milk as always,” Ethan blandly replied and stood from the couch. He peeped his head outward the window and sniffed the putrid Autumn air. He sighed and leaned forward. He turned back to see William already beside him carrying a pair of coffee mugs that sweetly brewed caffeine steam.

           “Thank you,” he cried.

William patted him on his back and struck his hair. He peeped his head out the window too and murmured, “I don’t want someone to have a miserable life like I do.” He looked at Ethan and gave a peaceful smile. “If you say, you are nothing, you might be right because nothing is something I fear.”

Ethan sighed and cried to hug him. He sniffed and William chuckled. “Thank you. I don’t know if I can ever forgive myself. I-I am so sorry.”

William looked away as he continued to stroke Ethan’s hair. He petted him as tears also rolled from his eyes and into his wounds. William inhaled and Ethan felt how heavy William’s chest was. He quickly wiped his tears away and grinned.

“Coffee?” he asked and William did the same with his tears. He replied, “Coffee.”

Ethan dipped his lips to the hot beverage and sipped it slowly. “Added sugar?”

“You’re sweet enough for it,” William replied and Ethan giggled.

Ethan had been enjoying the solace with William as they both re-edited the script for Rent Spoof. It had been going well with the rainbow. Ideas flooded them but it wasn’t a bother sorting out arguments on how the scenes should unfold. Every now and then, they would laugh at about how hilarious the spoof could be. Ethan tried to be humorous for the hour but after some time, the door opened vomiting Enid and Sebastian.

The former heartthrob came in like a ghoul lavished with white make-up. His lips dried up slightly and his face became paler. Ethan rushed to aid Enid who had been carrying the rocky bodied man.

“William, call the ambulance!” he requested but Enid stopped him. “We had gone there already,” she replied.

Ethan was stunned. Fear climbed into his body like blisters from the earlier event. He muttered, “He has diarrhea. They treated you, did not they?”

Enid shook her head. “He’s fine now. The pain was relieved. Just give me your ointment.”

Ethan agreed. He trotted inside his room and fished the ointment from his drawer and threw it to William.

“Massage it to him,” he requested. “I’ll grab him water.”

William did as told while Enid fell exhausted on the couch. Crystalline liquid drastically cascaded down her cheeks as she took her round glasses off of her eyes.
