Returning to my world, I walk over to Sans's bed. My eyes begin to drop close as I sigh, plopping down on it. After Error and I finished talking, we thought I should probably head home. Inside I know he's going to loose the little sanity he had for the time I was there, but I'm glad I got to give that time to him. Pulling the blanket over me, I roll over. Still haven't talked to Ink, and I'm not sure I want to.
"Paint?" someone says from behind me. Glancing over my shoulder, I see Dream. Tears are streaming down his face. Eye wide, I jump out of the bed and run over to him. He drops to his knees as I scoop him into my arms. "I-I couldn't stop him! He wouldn't stop! Please, you have to help me," he sobs, pulling away from me. Looking at him, I urge for him to explain. "My brother, Nightmare, he's back. H-He's trying to- he- he tried to kill Ink!" he spouts, shaking. My eyes widen. "He took him. He's gone! What are we going to do?!" Dream cries. Resting my hands on his cheeks, I look him in the eyes.
"We are going to get him back," I say, teleporting the both of use to the writing station. Dream sighs, and looks at me, eyes full of determination. He nods and we straighten ourselves out. Glancing around, I turn back to Dream. "Ok, start from the beginning, what happened?" I ask.
"Ok, I came back from surveying the worlds. Ink was upset over something, but he wouldn't say. And then Nightmare was just there! He just appeared! I tried, so hard, to beat him! But I was tired, and weak. He knocked me away, and Ink just sat there as he took him! He didn't even move!" Dream says, throwing his arms about. Looking around, I look at the pages. Something wasn't right. Ink would never abandon his pages, not ever. Looking back at Dream, I nod.
"Alright, I know someone who will help us. But you have to keep an open mind. Please, do this for me," I say, resting my hands on his shoulders. He nods and I grab his hand. Closing my eyes, I think of his place. Once I open them, we are there. In Error's home. Error looks at us, eyes wide. Dream's eyes land on him and he takes a step back. "He won't hurt us," I say, looking at Dream. Hesitantly, he nods. Turning back to Error, he gives me a warm look. "He's gone. Ink is missing," I say. His eyes widen.
"Wh-What? What happened?" Error says, walking over to us.
"Nightmare, Dream's brother, kidnapped him. We can't find him, and you're our only hope," I say. Dream looks at him, nervous. Error glances around, nervous. "Please," I say, grabbing his hand. He nods and Dream lets out a sigh of relief. Error looks at me, leaning forward a bit.
"Just, please, make sure he doesn't try to kill me," Error says. A smile crosses my face as I nod. Turning, he walks over to all his papers. "These are all the worlds I've . . . deleted," he says, a look of hurt crossing his face. Dream's eyes widen. "There are very few who have access to these, but knowing Nightmare, he is definitely one who could get his hands on a way in," he says, nodding.
"Wait, how do you know my brother?" Dream asks.
"Your brother is the living embodiment of bad emotions. I'm losing my sanity and have outrageous powers. We go hand in hand," Error says. Rolling my eyes, I cross my arms. "If I'm going to find him, I need something of his," he says. Dream's eyes widen. What would he have of Nightmare's? I mean, they left each other years ago. Something clicks and he sighs.
"Here," he says, holding out a black apple. My eyes widen. Is that what I think it is? One of the apples from the dark side of the tree? Error looks at it, taking it. Waving his hand around it, it suddenly turns into a dust. He blows it onto his sheets, just like Ink did when he erased me. A paper pulls itself forward, displaying it's dark markings. "Of course," Error says, rubbing his head.
"What?" Dream says anxiously.
"Out of all worlds, he chooses this one," Error says. Walking over, I look at the title. "Dreamtale," he murmurs. My eyes widen. His world, the world he was made. Dream looks at it and his breath hitches in his throat. Grabbing his hand, I look at him. Error looks away, shameful.
