"Why were you drinking my blood?", Kylie asks as Morona rolls out from under the bed, a grim expression on her face. "You know that will make you vomit later, right?"
"It was hungry", I say softly. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to."
"It's okay", she replies, giving me a hug. "I know you have a hard time controlling it. And now the urge will be gone for a while, right?"
"For a day, maybe two", Morona breaks in, hopping up on the bed next to me. "Not for long."
"Morona Feller. I've heard that name before. Have we met before?"
"Nope", she grins. "I'm famous in the newspapers though." The woman sighs and lays back. "The good old days will be back once I'm outta here though. Can't wait."
Kylie looks thoughtful for a moment, and then something clicks in her eyes, making her back away from my friend.
"You're the Dusk Killer!", she exclaims. "That's how I know you. You're a murderer!"
Morona shrugs. "In the flesh", she says, tipping an imaginary hat. "Pleasure to make your aquantince, Miss Moore."
"Theresa, get away from her", my sister commands. "That woman is dangerous."
"No she isn't", I reply tiredly, petting Morona's pink hair. "You're like me, aren't you."
"Cute as a bug in a rug." She slaps my hand away and hops to her feet, her brown eyes locked on my nervous sister. "Do you want to know why I did what I did?", she asks. No answer. "I killed those people because of the voices inside my head, because each time I slit their throats, they got quieter, at least for a little while. I didn't even fight the urge. You may think I'm a monster, but you won't think that way when your sister has done the exact same thing I did."
Then the woman turns and strolls out of the room, quietly shutting the door behind her.
"Morona's right", I say timidly after a moment, fidding with my robe. "She's like me. Maybe she can help."
"Help?!", Kylie shouts, rubbing her forehead. "You killed a man yesterday! Because of her! She's even crazier than you!"
I flinch, bringing my knees up to my chest, slowly rocking back and forth, muttering under my breath, "Not my fault. Not my fault. Not my fault."
"Theresa, I'm sorry. I didn't mean that", Kylie sighs, sitting back down next to me. "I'm just scared for you."
"It's okay", I reply quietly. "I know you don't mean that."
She wraps her arms around me, burying my her face in the fabric covering my left shoulder, closing her eyes as we stay like that in silence.

One of the nurses brings me my dinner and meds, as well as another dose of the sleeping drug that evening, since my earlier behavior consists of me trying to strangle one of the other patients.
The woman watches me pick at the spaghetti to avoid eating it for around five minutes before setting the plate aside "for me to finish later" before forcing me to swallow the weird tasting water.
"Good job, Miss Moore", she praises me when I'm finished. "Now, you'll wake up in the morning and feel a lot better than you have been feeling, alright?"
I don't move and I don't speak as the nurse slides the needle into my skin and injects the drug into a vein in my neck, keeping my head bowed as it slowly takes effect.
I quickly give in, laying my head down on the large white pillow. I close my eyes and after a moment, I feel myself slip away into nothingness, the land where no one can ever dream.
