   (Y/B/D) - Your BirthDay

   (Y/S) - Your Sibling (Brother/Sister)

   Word Count: 1127

It was (Y/B/D), also known as what should be the Best day of the Year. I mean, presents, what the next year has to hold, spending time with those who are closest to you in life, going out for a special dinner, maybe even a party! Sounds great right? Wrong.

See, this past year was a living nightmare. The apocalypse happened, meaning a year of trying to stay alive, and watching all of your family get eaten, and having to put them down. If it couldn't get worse, you had been shot just 2 weeks ago in the arm. Luckily it was just a graze, but even then you had FINALLY gotten your stitches out just a few days ago.

One good thing happened to you, however. Right after the last of your family passed, your little (Y/S), you met up with a group in Georgia who were heading to Virginia. You knew a brand new start would help you cope, so you went along with them. There, you met the leaders kid, Carl Grimes, who became the love of your life for the full year you've been with them now.

You were currently sitting on the steps outside of the house you shared with the Grimes in Alexandria. Carl knew it was your birthday, but you told him not to make a big deal of it. You told him that 2 days ago when he told you Happy Birthday before he had to go on a run with Michonne and Daryl. You didn't know when he'd be back, nor did anyone else. Not that it mattered. You knew he'd be fine. And on the bright side, Rick had already given you the day off as a "Present".

You got up from the steps, brushing yourself off a bit before walking behind the house. You went over to the tree you spent most of your time under, and sat down on the side that prevented others from seeing you. Not that it really mattered since only Carl knew this was your favorite place.. Obviously though since Carl knew more about you then anyone. The others didn't know the half of it.

You smiled a bit at the thought and closed your eyes, sighing peacefully. It was the little things like this that you missed. If only your one and only were here...

You must've dozed off, because next thing you knew you were opening your eyes, the sky just barely starting to darken, and the sound of footsteps approaching where you were.

"(Y/N)?" You heard a familiar voice call softly. You rubbed your eyes and groaned softly while you stretched. Carl stepped around to the side of the tree where you were sitting and smiled down at you. You reached your hands up to him to have him help you up. He pulled you gently up and into his arms. He hugged you close to him, being careful not to hurt your still sore arm.

"I missed you baby." He says softly into your ear. You smile, kissing him gently.

"I missed you more." He chuckled, not bothering to try and argue. Carl pulled out the hug just enough so he could reach into his pocket. He handed you a small box, smiling.

"Happy Birthday." he said. You shook your head and tried to hand it back to him.

"You're here now and that's all I could've ever wanted." you say, smiling. "Besides. You already know that I don-"

"I know you don't want a big deal made over it. But today should be special and whether you like it or not you are going to accept my loving gift and be happy about it." He joked. You laughed and opened it so not to hurt his feelings. You gasped when you saw the ring and looked at Carl in shock.

"It's not a proposal yet. Don't worry. That'll come soon though. It's a promise ring. It's a symbol of my promise to you that I will love you for as long as you want me to, that I will be there for you when you need me and even when you don't. That I want to call you my wife one day." He took it out of the box and took your left hand. "Would you do me the honor of wearing it, (Y/N)? If you wear it, you'll be saying that you love me as much as I love you. Well, trying to love me as much I love you anyways." He grinned and slipped the ring on your finger when you nodded quickly. You embraced him in a tight hug, kissing him deeply. You were so lucky to have this boy in your life.

"I will love you with all my being. I'll have your back and I'll never leave you, Carl." You said, grabbing his hand. He smiled and lead you back towards the front door.

"Let's go get some food in you. Dad's almost finished dinner."

You both walked to porch of the house, and you saw the lights all off. "Carl?" You asked confused when he walked in, dragging you with him. He turned the lights on and the was suddenly a large outburst of "SURPRISE!!" Your jaw dropped when you saw the entire house decorated in streamers and balloons. Everyone from Alexandria was here, all wearing party hats! They even managed to get one on Daryl! Carol even baked a cake!

"Carlllllll!" you whined playfully, hugging him with a huge grin on your face. "I said I didn't want anything biggggggg." Everyone laughed and the party began! There was music, food, games, and of course your closest friends and 'family' coming and saying happy birthday. You stuck next to Carl for most of the party.

Once the cake was finished being eaten, and everyone was gone, you went upstairs and collapsed on the bed. You hadn't stopped smiling the entire party, and your face was hurting now. Carl flopped next to you, grinning as he nuzzled his head into your neck, pulling you close to him. You laughed and messed with his hair.

"Thank you Carl. The Party Was actually really fun." you say, looking at the ring on your finger he gave you.

"I'm glad you liked it. That's why we went on the run. I wanted to do something special for you even if you said you didn't want it. You do so much around here." He kissed you gently before settling into bed and pulling you against him, his eyes closing. "I love you (Y/N). Happy Birthday."

You smiled and closed your eyes. "I love you too Carl." you whispered before both of you falling asleep.
