(Shaun's POV)

"Doctor Melendez to the Emergency room."

Shaun Murphy watches Doctor Melendez and Doctor Kulu rush towards the ER, leaving him to finish up with the current patient. He simply had to finish checking the man's vitals, then he could go to help Melendez.

"Thank you again, Doctor Murphy, for everything."

"It's....not necessary to thank me." He says before turning and walking out the door towards the ER. There's several doctors crowded with Dr. Melendez. Jared comes over to him from the patient, pulling Shaun to the counter with a file in hand.

"Hey Shaun. Um...Melendez says he doesn't need you for this specific surgery. He needs someone to...uh...check on the other patients."

"Jared you're lying. You...paused when you were speaking and...we've already checked on all of our patients."

"Get her prepped for surgery stat. Kulu let's go."

Jared sighs and jogs to catch up, squeezing Shaun's shoulder on his way by. Shaun watches as the gurney is rushed by, gasping when he sees the patient.

"Wait! That's...(Y/N)! Why is she...here??" He starts pushing past other doctors to make sure it's you. Once he sees your face again, he takes off to where Jared and Melendez are prepping for the surgery. He shoves the doors open and starts quickly scrubbing in.

"You don't need to be part of this one Murphy. It's o-"

"No!...I need to be here and help." Shaun says firmly, following the 2 other doctors out to where you are laying, sedated and prepped.

   "Alright then. Here we go."

The surgery was finished, Shaun being hyper focused the entire procedure, knowing the risk of losing you. Melendez was kind enough to give him the rest of the day off, so now he was, pacing the room back and forth, constantly checking the monitors. He couldn't begin to describe his nerves. He tried to sit next to you, but he couldn't stop fidgeting, so he settled for pacing the room instead.

"Ughhhh." You groaned softly, slowly prying your eyes open.

((Y/N) POV)

Your eyes slowly open, a bright artificial light being the first thing you see.

"B-e careful (Y/N). How are you feeling? Are you, in any pain?" Shaun rushes to your side, checking all of the IV tubes and monitors to make sure everything is stable.

"Shaun? Shaun sweetie calm down. I'm okay."

He keeps wringing his hands together, shaking his head. "No...No it's not okay. You...had to have surgery...and you have a , broken arm. And a concussion...and you, had an internal bleed. You...could've died if you didn't get here sooner. It's no-t okay."

You reach out with you're non-injured arm and gently take his hand in yours.

"Shaun. Sit down. I'm okay now thanks to you." Shaun finally gives in, sighing in defeat. He plops down next to you in the chair and clutches your hand with both of his.

   "What Happened?"

"Well...I remember a car...that hit me...and i remember seeing the paramedics putting me on a gurney...and...pain. A lot of pain...but that's all I can remember." Your eyes are wet with tears that have yet to fall. Shaun hesitantly hugs you like he always does, pulling you close.

"It's...okay now. You're going to get better. And...I'm going to help you."

"Shaun. You should go back to work. I'm probably going to get some rest. I'll heal quicker that way." You say, smiling and running your fingers through his hair.

He nods and gets up, grabbing his white coat from the rack next to the door. He comes over and kisses your forehead before walking out.

The following weeks are filled with pain, tears, love, and hard work. Therapy was hell for your arm, which was more than a simple break in one spot. It had been broken in 3 places and screws put in to help heal it.

Shaun of course helped as much as he could. He would go through the exercises with you, and be there for you to hold onto when the pain was bad. He was more than you could've asked for.

You currently were sitting on the sofa, watching TV and curled up with Shaun, who had an arm draped over your shoulder. You glanced up at his face, his eyes fixated on the screen. He was always so fascinated with everything around him.

"What are you thinking about, (Y/N)?"

You didn't realize how long you'd been watching him. A blush formed on your cheeks, averting your gaze. "Just about how perfect you are for me." A small smile graces your lips when his fingers lace with yours.

"You're...cheesy. Jared said that's when, someone says something romantic like in the movies." He smiles his big goofy smile at you when you laugh. "How, are you feeling?"

"Fine Shaun. No need to worry about me anymore. It's been months now. I'm practically all better now!"

"Well, it's....My Job to worry about you. It's...part of being a good boyfriend!"

You laugh again, and sigh happily, shifting a bit to a more comfortable position.

"I love you a lot Shaun. I just want you to know that. I appreciate you worrying about me. I wouldn't worry about myself without you."

He grins at that. "That's true. You, don't worry about things you usually should."

"Well maybe that's cause my philosophy is Worrying means you suffer twice! I wanna live my life is all without the setbacks."

   "And...that's why I love you too, (Y/N)."

   "Now who's being Cheesy, Shaun?"

You both laugh at how weird the two of you are, and spend the rest of the night relaxing and talking while the TV plays.
