Chapter: 7
Who Are you?I closed the door as we both entered. But then thought better of it and opened it just a little for the sake of my sanity and well... just because.
"You're acting like I'm going to murder you."
I glanced behind me and found Adam casually giving my room a once over with hands in the pockets of his khakis.
"Well, I don't know you good enough and that speculation won't be entirely wrong for me to consider." I looked away just before he turned his head to look at me. Taking a deep breath, I took a step back from the door and turned around to go for my bed where I had tossed my schoolbag earlier.
Without looking at Adam.
I opened my bag and took out my relevant books and notes, then I opened the upper drawer of my left side table and pulled out a pack of mints. What? I have a habit of chewing mint flavoured gums while studying.
I turned around with all my things and nearly jumped out of my skin when I found Adam standing mere inches before me, staring at me like I was the world's most questionable entity to have ever existed. My heart was pretty much trying to pulverise my rib cage to get out and run free.
"You're ignoring me," he stated as if it explained his uncanny ability to materialise anywhere near me within a two inches radius.
"What are you doing here in the first place?" I narrowed my eyes at this guy's audacity to point out my ignorance of him, while he clearly acted like an arrogant prick after we left Claire's house.
He raised an eyebrow. How does one raise an eyebrow with such elegance?
I leaned away from him.
"You were the one who said we'd start studying today," he pointed out coolly.
"That was before you treated my like an inconvenience during this morning's craziness."
I felt him lower his head a little, perhaps to try and get a read on my eyes. "Inconvenience?" he asked.
"Yes, I'm sorry you had to go through the trouble of saving me from dying today. Must be very bothersome."
And before I could move that giant of a man away from me he placed a cool finger under my chin and made me raise my head despite my desire to do so. "You're neither inconvenient nor troublesome."
I raised my eyes to his, and as always, it turned out to be a bad idea because his eyes were just too damn captivating. And let's not forget the tingling under my chin at the point of our contact.
"Then why did it feel like you wanted to be anywhere but near me?" I paused, That sounded kind of desperate. I tried for a different approach, "By near I mean within a hundred miles radius of me."
Okay, weirdo...
"I mean anywhere where you could see me. I don't mean near in an intimate manner-" I shut up, and looked away taking a step back, which was kinda difficult because there was not much space to cover behind me. My cheeks started burning up. I actually felt the heat creeping and there was no way now to deny that I could, in fact, blush.
Smooth, Ray. Very smooth. I mentally slapped myself.
Taking a nervous breath, I looked up, only to see Adam smirking at me. I narrowed my eyes, "If you'd be so kind as to take a step back or two, that would be nice. Our close proximity gives me breathing problems."
My eyes widened, What?
"Not that it's something you need to know!" I wanted to choked myself for that stupid slip of tongue. But it was too late now, Keep your damn monologue to yourself, you idiot!

VampirePreface: My heart stopped at the sight of him. The look in his eyes was primal, dangerous. Hell, it was downright murderous. My throat was suddenly choked up with sand and I couldn't find it in myself to dare say a word. My eyes were transfixed, not...
