Chapter: 15
Falling For HimI got out of the bathroom awkwardly, my mum's ridiculous insinuation still lingering in the air. I'd changed back into my pjs and now I simply and much awkwardly glanced at Adam. He was leaning against my dresser, his one hand outstretched against the wooden surface of it to keep him steady. And seeing him like that pretty much made me swoon. Damn it, why did he have to loosen his tie in such a sexy way? I outright slapped the inner me for being such a hormonal teenager.
He looked up at me. I blinked at him and bit on the inside of my cheek. He rubbed the back of his neck as he gave me a crooked lazy smile. Damn... I cleared my throat. "I'm really sorry about that. My mum can be... uh," I shuffled my feet. I couldn't exactly say she was being an idiot. She's my mother for God's sake!
"It's alright. Not like it's new, you know. Everyone thinks there's something going on between us. It was only natural that your mother came to a conclusion as well."
I raised by brows in surprise. "Something going on?" I asked. I took a step in the direction of my bed but lost my footing right then as the damaged muscle fibres of my recently cramping calf fought against any movement. Shit-
I didn't even get to complete my cursing muse because in an instant I was trapped in Adam's arms as he held me steady. I looked up at him and he just stared back, "Yes, and romantically at that."
I hesitantly pushed against his chest as much as I didn't want to and gave a fake cough, "Right. People really need to mind their own business." I took a step back but held on to his arm as I made my way to the bed. God, I feel like an invalid. "So, you're staying?" I asked as I sat down and looked up at him.
"Yeah. I'm afraid you'd break your leg or something if I kept you out of my sight even for a minute."
I patted on the space beside me silently asking him to sit down and rolled my eyes, "I blame you. Ever since you came, my world's turned upside down."
He smiled lightly, "At least I'm keeping it interesting then."
I scoffed, "Sure. Whatever floats your boat." I fell back on the mattress. "You're going to be bored out of your mind with me. I have no idea why you decided to stay."
"Nothing can be boring with you, Ray." I looked up at him. "I'm saying this by personal experience."
Heat crept up my neck. I looked him over. He was in his school uniform and didn't fit into the comfy environment of my room. "You plan on staying in your uniform?"
He pulled at the neck of his blazer, then shrugged. I rolled my eyes up to the ceiling and then sat back up as I tried getting up from the bed.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
"Going to Thomas's room. You'll fit into his clothes, I think."
"There's no need."
"Oh, but there is. I know how uncomfortable that stupid uniform of ours is despite their claims of the finest fabric and sticthing." I gave an inverted fingers gesture.
"You're exaggerating now," he said while grabbing hold of my hand preventing me from my attempts to get up.
"It's just gonna take a minute tops. I promise not to deprive you of my mesmerising presence," I said sarcastically looking over him.
He smirked, "You know me too well, love. But I think you should do something about your leg so you can at least walk without falling over every two steps."
I narrowed my eyes at him, "Your proposition?"
"A massage."
I choked on my own spit. Adam gently rubbed my back as my coughing fit subsided. I stared at him with bleary eyes, "Massage?" I croaked.
