Chapter: 24
It All Went Downhill

For reasons unknown, when I woke up for school the next day, it was on the first ring of my alarm. And that's saying something, considering I had returned home at nearly 2 am on a Sunday night and the fact that I was bone tired by the end of all the shit that hit the fan yesterday.

Changing out of that dress was the biggest pain in the ass of all.

Colour day, it was. And for once, I felt motivated to change into some presentable clothes that won't be frowned down upon. Kidding, no one really cares what you wear, but today I felt motivated. For what? I still needed to figure that out.

I wore a tweed dress. Yes, I, Ray Elizabeth Ashton, chose to wear a dress on a Monday morning for school. It was all red, blue, green checkered pattern on a pearly white base. I wore some opaque black stockings along a pair of white trainers. I pulled my hair in a high ponytail, applied some sunscreen and lip balm, took hold of my wristwatch and phone, threw the latter in my school bag, and went out the door.

"So last night went that well, huh?"

I turned sideways to look at Thomas. "What brings you to that conclusion?"

"The fact that you chose to wear a tweed dress?" he raised a brow.

"You know what a tweed dress is? I'm impressed, Tommy boy."

He rolled his eyes, "Half of the- no, actually, most of the girls I've been with love shopping. And if I have to get what I want," he wiggled his brows suggestively, "I need to know how their mind works. It's pretty much the latest fashion trends, so yeah."

I made a disgusted face, "You're disgusting."

Thomas raised his hands in surrender, "Hey, to each their own." He stared at me some. "Did he give you a good time though?"

"Good time?" I raised a mock surprised brow, "Now what exactly do you mean by him giving me a good time?"

He paused mid stride, realising the innuendo I was implying. "I did not mean it in that way. Jesus, Ray. I meant, if he treated you well at the fundraiser or whatever it was that you've gone off to." He glared at me in annoyance, then he groaned in exasperation, "Ya know what? I don't even want to know anymore. You've ruined my brain with that stupid implication." He walked past me mumbling something in the lines of "I've been eff-ing scarred for the rest of my life!"

"I had fun!" I said after him. Or at least I tried, a wry smirk was playing on my lips. Thomas was a funny thing when he was flustered and on a roll.

I entered the kitchen and it was a pleasant surprise to see that my boyfriend was nowhere to be found. You wanna know why? Because I was down before 7:30 am. Heh, take that, Kingston!

"Someone get her an Oscar! She's on time!" Ashley said from the counter.

I rolled my eyes, "Zip it, Ash."

My mum handed me a sandwich glazed with Nutella, "You look nice, honey."

I bit on the soft bread, "Thanks, mum." I glanced at my watch and it showed less than five minutes till Adam's expected arrival. I shoved the sandwich down my throat in a hurry and garbled a bye while pulling on a black jacket.

When I entered the garage, I found my beloved bicycle and grazed my hand across its surface. I felt bad for not being able to ride it for quite some time. "I've missed you, baby," I whispered softly to my sweet, dependable transport. Dusting it lightly, I got on it and was headed for the school in no time.
