"His healing is going faster than I expected," Kyan said, holding one of Leo's scared feet. "Didn't you say his magic wouldn't effect the process?"

"Theoretically, it shouldn't." And it wasn't. My magic is what was giving him the expedited healing rate. His body reacted well to other magic and my magic was treating him well. "But that's only theoretically. I've never seen a magician like him before, so everything is theories and guesses. Part of the reason I so strongly wanted you with me, Doctor Kyan, is because I needed someone to help me compare his body to that of a regular human."

"I like it when you use big words," Leo said, smiling happily. "Makes you sound smart."

"For the eighth time, you damn magician," Tori bit back, "she is smart. She is-"

"-absolutely genius," Leo finished. "I know, I know. Your idol's perfect, stalker girl."

"It's Victoria, magician."

"And that's Leo."

For the five days that we've been together, and that Leo has been under my jurisdiction, the two of them have done nothing but bicker and argue. Nothing at all. It was like babysitting children. Correction, children have the tendency to obey directions in a better fashion than Leo. He was just... hard to deal with.

At the sound of the door opening, which I heard above the children's bickering, I glanced back to see Dante entering the room. Upon seeing my glance, he gave a curt salute before walking to my side.

"How's the healing going?" He asked, his gaze staying on the magician.

"Kyan says he should be good to start training, but he hasn't stood up yet, minus being moved to the shower where he sat. If we can get him to do that, I'll give my okay and we can start training tonight."

"Training?" Leo exclaimed. "Remind me again why I have to train."

I let my full gaze turn to him so he could see the look I was giving him. "Because I said so."

He raised an eyebrow, half smiling. "So what?"

There was an icy silence that curtained the room, covering us. Even breathing seemed to stop when the world froze. Three pairs of eyes followed me with growing fear while the other pair seemed to taunt me.

I stalked forward, going through the cell door left open by Kyan. I saw the color change in Leo's eyes as a drop of red flashed. His face changed to one of fear.

In a quick motion, before he could back away, I slammed the heel of my black combat boots onto his toes. There was a loud crack and then a cry.

"Listen well, magician." I ground my boot against his toes. His hands clasped onto my ankles, but they weak and shaking. "I've let you say whatever you like, I've had a doctor treating your wounds, and I have been more than kind to you, considering the situation your in and the way you've spoken as of now. So, considering the type of world we live in, in which your people are nothing more than overpowered cockroaches, I suggest you shut your mouth, consider yourself lucky, and do what I tell you. Understand?"

He didn't answer, his fingers still gripping my ankles.

I ground my heel again. He let out a long cry, his finger grasping tighter and digging his nails in.

"Yes!" He yelled. "Yes, I understand. Please..."

After a second more, I lifted my heel. His bare toes were already healing, probably broken.

I turned to Kyan. "Wrap him up, give him some pain killers, and bring him to the..."

I looked at Dante who was standing a bit straighter. "Um, we have a training room as well as a gym, Ma'am. The gym is more for a solo training and the training room, we use to train new soldiers... Ma'am."
