In Sith Rising, I kinda wrote Anakin Skywalker a bit differently than he was in the movies. I mean, he gets a pretty bad rep for being whiny and annoying, not to mention the "I don't like sand" monologue. In Revenge of the Sith, Anakin starts having these nightmares about Padme dying in childbirth. He talks to Palpatine about this, who tells him about a guy named Darth Plagueis who could manipulate life. Anakin is of course intrigued and wants to learn the secret to manipulating life, so he asks Palpatine to teach him the ways. This of course leads to him joining the Dark Side of the Force.
The scene where Anakin can either save Windu or Palpatine is where I chose to start the story. That's a critical moment in the movie and of course, Anakin chooses to save Palpatine and kills Windu. That officially starts his turn to the Dark Side. Anakin could've also killed Palpatine right then and there. But he could've just stood there like a moron. That's what I made him do. He's at war with himself here. He can't kill Windu cuz that's against the Jedi Code and he can't kill Palpatine cuz he needs him alive. What can he do? He just stands like a moron and watches it all happen. That kicks off the plot of Sith Rising.
So the Jedi send him on some mission to spy on Palpatine. That of course is a bad idea on their part. Anakin keeps getting nightmares of his loved ones in danger and continually seeks Palpatine's help.
Despite people warning him about Palpatine, Anakin refuses to believe them, even when Windu informs him that he killed four younglings on Ilum. His perception of Palpatine is shattered when Will intervenes in their business. Palpatine then engages in a martial arts duel in his office. That scene is déjà vu to the first one I mentioned above. Anakin has to choose between saving his friend and saving someone who could potentially saved his loved one's life. At that moment, Will tells Anakin that Palpatine is evil. Anakin's brotherly love for Will drives him to save Will and dump Palpatine. The cost, though, is that Palpatine is after his head.
After Order 66, Anakin's confidence is shattered when he sees the remains of the Jedi Temple. This strikes fear into his heart. He now believes that the Republic is truly dead. This drives him into self-inflicted exile on Tatooine. Two months later, Will manages to locate him there and finds him. He talks to Anakin about all that's been going on in the galaxy and begs him to come back to Coruscant. Will then mentions that he must do it for his children and the next generation if he won't do it for himself. This makes Anakin realize that he's been running away from the problem and motivates him to face it once and for all.
He and Will return to Coruscant, where everybody is happy to see Anakin back. Anakin basically becomes a leader to them. He leads them into battle, where the stakes are extremely high. The final battle between him and Palpatine starts off with a little chat between the two. Palpatine tries to be friendly to Anakin, but Anakin is ready to strike him down. He's really pissed that Palpatine tricked him. This implies that he won't be swayed by Palpatine's cheap tricks any longer. They then fight for quite a while and of course, Palpatine dies. Anakin has fulfilled the Prophecy.
In these two months that the story takes place, Anakin's character has changed a lot. He now knows that power can corrupt if handled incorrectly. The Jedi want to promote him to Jedi Master status for all he's done but Anakin doesn't want all that. After all that, he just wants some peace and quiet. I mean, I don't blame him. He's got a family. I mean, really. Anakin can basically choose his own path. He could stay on Coruscant and be a Jedi Master or he could be a family man. You know what he chose if you read the story.
