~Toni
I had been back at the Shadow Pack for just over a week when I had finally got a routine sorted. I would phone Max on a morning and on a night while I would text him whenever I could. I missed him but hearing his voice when I woke up or was settling down for the night, helped. The first few days of being back at the pack were hectic. There was a massive pack party, interviews, people wanting pictures with us. Honestly, I wanted to lock myself away from the world, but I couldn't. However, it settled down and then I was starting to get back to a somewhat normal life.
"Hey, Toni, you ready yet?" I heard Roxy shout before knocking on my door.
"Urgh, ready for what?" I was confused. She sighed at me as she took in my appearance. I had woken up half an hour earlier and had been on the phone to Max since then. When I had opened the door, my hair wasn't brushed and I was still in my pyjamas.
"You haven't forgotten have you? You, me and Josh were supposed to be meeting up with some school friends. We arranged this two days ago."
"You mean two days ago at Amanda's?"
"Yeah." She nodded and I burst out laughing.
"I never went to Amanda's house. I was invited but I didn't go. Did you arrange this without me?"
"I was stood right next to you and we arranged it together. Were you drunk?"
"Roxy, were you drunk? I WASN'T there!"
Her phone suddenly buzzed. Looking at the message, she paled.
"Please, don't say I told you so." She sighed as she showed me her phone. There was a message from Grace(a girl who went to school with us).
Hi, are we still up for that reunion we organised at Amanda's? x
"You must have been drunk. You thought Grace was me. We are polar opposites." I laughed.
"Come with me." Roxy pleaded.
"Sorry, I can't. Going over to Ricky's since dad handed over most of the beta work to him now, I promised I would come round and help out Mia. Since he proposed to her, Mia has been so worked up about what she wants the wedding to be like, she has been focusing on nothing but the wedding." I laugh.
"Ok, see you later."
"Yeah. Have fun at the reunion." I laughed. Roxy just sighed and said something that was inaudible but most probably something that shouldn't have been said when there was an immature person like Alec in the house.

Sitting in dad's office, I slowly looked over some of the things he stored in there. On the corner of the desk, there was a picture that we took on holiday of the whole family. Ruby, Lizzie, Jace and I were playing in the sand, dad was buried up to his neck and mum was laughing next to him. That holiday was one of my favourites and I remembered it so vividly even though I was seven.
My mum then came in with her eyes puffy. It was mid-afternoon now and I had stopped crying. Mum had taken the news hard and had locked herself away in her room. I was surprised she had managed to step one foot into the office.
"How long have you been sat in here?"Mum sniffed and then sat down in one of the leather seats.
"I...I don't...I don't really know." I sighed.
"Have you phoned your sister?"
"Yeah, she's getting Rich to drive her straight over now."
"I thought Lizzie hated Rich's driving?" Mum smiled a little bit. I was pleased that she had smiled a little, I thought I wouldn't see that lovely smile for a while.
"She does hate his driving but she was scared that she wouldn't be able to focus properly. She didn't take the news very well. Lizzie only left yesterday because she wanted to spend more time with dad but then she had to go. She is angry at herself for leaving."
"It's nobody's fault." Mum said quietly.
I got up and pulled my mum into a hug. Soon, she started to cry on my shoulder. Ruby and Alec were walking past the door when mum started crying, so they came in and we all had a massive family hug. I worried that dad would leave us vulnerable but together, we were strong.
A/N- Sorry for the shorter chapter. The last bit was quite hard for me to write but the next chapter should be back to a longer length.
I just want to say THANK YOU for all the votes and comments. I started this book just over a week ago and for it to have escalated like this already, WOW! I never thought I would have this many readers, this many votes on a book that I just thought of while laying in my room. So thank you guys!
