*Leslie's P.O.V*

"Geez, what took you so long?" Mia asked as soon as I opened the door to my house. She was carrying three supermarket bags full of chips and ice cream having her right leg crossed over the left, either posing like a model or trying to hold her pee inside.

This is our typical first day of summer break; fooling around, eating and watching rom-coms all day. We've been doing this for three years now and honestly, I couldn't find a better way to spend this day, or my entire summer for that matter.

"I was on the phone with my mum," I smiled, shaking my head at her.

"Is Cuba as fab as it is in my dreams?" she asked again, setting all the stuff along with her backpack on the coffee table.

"That's what I asked, but all she did was complain about being there just for her job," I rolled my eyes. Mia laughed and made herself comfortable on the couch.

Right then, my dad made his appearance wearing a pair of yellow boxers and a black T-shirt. I mentally slapped myself from embarrassment.

"Dad!" I shrieked.

"Leslie," he smirked.

"Hello, Mr Seth," Mia laughed, enjoying my current awkward state. "We've got chips, do you want some?"

My dad shook his head and patted his chest slightly. "I'm good. I was thinking of calling your dad to come for a basketball match in our backyard. Is he at home?"

"Yeah," she nodded her head. "This time, though, try not to cry so much after losing," she told him and opened a bag of Lay's. My mouth opened in an 'o' shape and so did my dad's. Looking over at Mia, I burst out laughing.

My dad stuck his tongue out at us and left the living room. "Have fun," he called out.

Sitting myself on the couch, next to Mia, I took the remote control and turned on the TV. The Victorious theme song came on and both Mia and I started singing along.

The truth is, I've had a crush on Beck since the very first episode. I mean, who doesn't? The guy is hotter than a my straightener and his hair... Oh gosh.

"Thinking of Beck again?" Mia nudged me with her foot.

"Yeah," I said dreamily. "Hey, I forgot to ask you-" I glanced at my best friend, who was having the best time of her life, eating salty chips.

"Don't even," she said with a full mouth.

"What? You don't even know what I want to ask!" I argued.

She could be such a smart ass sometimes... She thinks she knows everything I want to say, when she clearly doesn't.

"No, I didn't get back with Justin."

Or maybe she does.

Shut up, brain.

Do you even have a brain?

Well...

"I-I didn't want to ask about Justin." I laughed, trying to hide my awkward stuttering.

"Yeah, right," she rolled her eyes.

Standing up from the couch, I walked over to the video player and put in my favourite movie. The Intern.

The only sounds heard were the crunching of the chips in Mia's mouth and the not-so-successful cheering of my dad, coming from the backyard.

"Fine," I admitted. "That's what I wanted to ask. But don't judge me," I warned her. "The poor guy has been apologizing for three months now and you still haven't forgiven him," I shook my head disapprovingly.

So, here's what happened; it was Mia's birthday party. We had gone out to a club, like ten people, and out of the blue Justin's childhood crush showed up. Not having seen her in a freaking long time, the poor guy went over to greet her without telling anything to Mia. What he forgot was that my best friend knew all about her. Damn twenty questions.

What happened next was a disaster. Mia got closer to her, Justin's eyes got wide, his crush's hair accidentally got tangled with Mia's hands, and eventually we all got kicked-out from the club.

What I don't understand, though, is why Mia made it such a big deal. They've been together for almost six years, it's not like Justin is still in love with the other girl. That's what he's being telling her for the past three months, but she won't even listen.

"We are going out tomorrow, okay? But don't expect any magic to happen," she shook her index finger in front of my face.

I smirked knowingly and nodded my head.

Just as the opening titles started to appear on the screen, the doorbell rang. Telling Mia to pause the movie, as I didn't want to lose a scene, I run over to the door and opened it wide.

"Get in, close the door, dad's in the backyard," I stated once I saw it was only Mia's dad standing there.

Walking back towards the living room, I prepared myself for another perfect first day of summer holidays.

It was almost nine o'clock at night when our last movie ended and our supplies of food finished.

Surprisingly enough, my dad had won the match with Mia's dad and this time it was him who left the house crying. Dad had gone to take a shower and we were just sitting, judging people's stories about summer on Instagram.

We heard my parents' bedroom door close and my dad's footsteps coming closer. Suddenly, an unsuccessful mimicking of a siren sound flooded the apartment.

"Call the fire department, 'cause the hottest basketball player in the world is approaching," my dad shouted from the hall.

"Oh man," Mia and I said simultaneously.

"Who won Mia's dad? Who? Who? Who? Who won Mia's dad? Who? Who? Who?" my dad sang in the rhythm of the song Who Let The Dogs Out. Mia covered her face with a pillow and booed my dad.

It's fun to have those two. And the fact that my dad considers Mia his daughter too, makes everything better. I might not have such a relationship with Mia's dad, but I know he loves me just as much.

When dad finally shut up, he came and sat in the armchair next to us. Breathing heavily, he smiled at me.

"Hey, guys?" he said looking over at the turned off TV. "How about ordering some pizza?"
