*Leslie's P.O.V.*

Having the sunlight blast into my eyes, I mentally cursed humanity for having invented windows. Rolling out of bed, my eye caught a glimpse of the digital clock on my nightstand.

6:37 am

What the actual flower?!

Never have I ever woken up that early in my life. Even when I had to go to school, I had never woken up before seven.

As the need of more sleep had completely left my system, I decided to get up and go get myself a glass of orange juice to start my day with.

Although the past few weeks haven't been our healthiest – having eaten fast food almost every single day of them – my family is very into healthy eating. My mum always talks me into having a full energy-giving breakfast and being able to get as many vitamins as possible from it.

Walking towards the kitchen I noticed that my dad was still sound asleep. He had his back turned to the door, but I could clearly make out the fact that he was clutching on my mum's pillow in his sleep.

I silently opened the fridge, only to find it merely empty. There were only two eggs, some ketchup and a half-eaten tin of soup in there.

No juice for me today.

Since I didn't have anything to do or eat - clearly more important - I walked back to my room and got ready for my trip to the supermarket. Thinking of my dad having to go there alone every other week made me feel kinda useless. Today was the day I would change that.

Dressing myself up in a light blue crop top and a jean skirt, I made my way to the closet in which we store our shoes.

Once I opened the closet door, I came across my mum's huge collection of high heels. There were red, blue, black... You name a colour and she has it.

When I was little, she used to tell me that all these shoes would become mine. As soon as I grew up, I would be able to wear them attending prom, parties and anywhere else I wanted. Little did we know that my feet would grow bigger than my mum's.

Sad, I know.

Putting on my beige sandals, I got my keys and walked out of the house, not forgetting to leave my dad's phone right on his nightstand.

My family is clearly over the leave-a-note-before-you-go mentality, and was never under the 'wake me up before you go-go' one. We just make sure to spam each other on Messenger and say that we have gone outside.

And just like that I found myself outside the house. The street, being empty, made the whole picture quite calm. Our neighbours, Mr and Mrs Valerian, were sitting on their front yard enjoying their morning coffee.

If I remember correctly, they didn't have any kids of their own, but sometimes little children from the local kindergarten visit them as a voluntary activity. Their house is cozy but empty of joy, so having children over is probably good for them.

Unconsciously, I found myself getting into the twenty-four-hour-open supermarket. My phone buzzed in my pocket and I quickly fished it out.

"Don't forget to get me some hair gel, hun", was my father's message.

After getting everything and checking out, I started walking back. Now the sun had risen higher, making me question how much time I had spent in there.

8:24 am, was again a time I didn't expect to see.

What am I even going to do at home?

The question kept repeating itself in my brain and I was desperately trying to find an answer.

Studying?

No.

Spending time with dad?

Nice, but no.

Reading Wattpad?

The last time I checked, my favourite author hadn't published a new chapter yet. Ugh, unfair life.

My phone once again buzzed signaling a message. Drawing my pattern, I unlocked it and saw that I was surely sent a message by Mia.

"Wanna go fill our tummies with waffles? ;)", she asked.

After texting my dad about it, I agreed to her suggestion and told her that I would meet her soon. The fact that I had been walking for an hour non stop, actually made me slow down a bit.

I reached the diner and quickly got into the booth Mia had kept us. Dumping my bags next to me, I left a heavy sigh and rubbed my forehead.

"Good to see you too, best friend," she rolled her eyes.

"You are an idiot," I laughed kissing her cheek.

The waiter came fast and – while looking at Mia the entire time – took our orders.

Not wanting to make you jealous, I'll just tell you that I ate a warm waffle covered with mouth drooling Nutella and chocolate syrup. And not to forget the crunchy pieces of Oreo on the top.
Oh, and the huge scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Hashtag sorry not sorry.

It was already eleven o'clock when I eventually got back home. The front door was suspiciously open and a red bike was laying inside our front yard.

Being the curious person I was, I run inside only to see a stranger sitting in my living room, talking to my dad.

"Dad?"

"Oh, Leslie, you're finally back!" my dad exclaimed once he saw me.

The stranger turned to me and smiled. He seemed young, maybe around my age. He had brown hair, but I couldn't clearly make out the colour of his eyes because of the little lighting of the house. It's going to sound weird but the dimple he had on the left cheek made him look kind of annoying.

Or maybe it was his face.

"Why is this guy here?" I asked, trying not to sound too harsh.

"This guy is our guest for now and you should be more respectful," he warned me. "The poor fella fell off his bike right outside our house trying to prevent crushing with a pedestrian. Thank goodness I heard him and he is alright."

Nodding my head and trusting my dad, I didn't comment on what he did. Bringing a strange guy in our house just like that? Anyway...

The guy suddenly stood up and started walking towards me.

"Nice to meet you," he told me, "I'm Spencer."
