Kousei:
It had been a week after the auditions. I didn't get any response yet, and I was starting to get worried.
"Hey Kousei..." Emi said, walking up to me and putting her hand on my shoulder, "I know you must be worried about call backs and stuff"
"Yeah..." I said. She frowned, and kind of just stood there, then she said,
"You wanna hangout? You seem really lonely and I know Tsubaki is probably always around you and you might want a break from all that."
"I would love to get out of all the drama... so yeah." I replied. She smiled.
"Great, walk with me to my house after school?" She asked. I smiled.
"Sure." I replied. She smiled, then walked away. Just then Tsubaki approached me.
"What was that about?" She asked.
"Oh uh- nothing." I replied. I didn't want Tsubaki to know I was going to hang out with Emi. Tsubaki gave me that face that just said, "I know you are lying but I'm gonna act like I know you aren't." The bell rang and I walked away from Tsubaki, I had music class next.
That day was boring, but mostly tiring and weird. I didn't feel the same. The bell rang and school was over. I walked to the front of the school and waited for Emi.
"Hey loser." Emi said, punching me softly on the shoulder and laughing a little. I smiled. We walked out of the school way.
It was mostly silent, we didn't know what to say to each other.
     "So- how's Tsubaki?" She asked.
     "Good- I think." I replied.
"How's your relationship with her?" She asked.
"...I don't know... a little tiring I guess, with all the drama." I replied. She looked at me for a minute, like she was trying to figure me out.
"You aren't happy with her?" She asked. I shrugged.
"Sometimes- but then other times I just hate being around her. Sometimes she just makes my life worse." I replied.
"Have you ever considered breaking up with her?" She asked. I stopped. I didn't know exactly how to reply with that.
"We aren't- exactly dating" I replied. She looked at me like I was crazy.
"You kiss all the time, you guys are perfect for each other- even I have to admit that." She said. I shrugged again. "I have to show you something." She said, as she grabbed my arm and ran. I ran after her, we crossed a bridge, and a few cars and people. It started to get dark out too. We stopped in front of a tree. It was a big tree, in a big park that no one ever really went to anymore. The tree was beautiful, it had pink petals, even though some had fallen.
"Why did you bring me here?" I asked.
"This is where it all started." She replied, looking at me.
     "Where what started?" I asked.
"Where I fell in love." She replied. I looked at her in confusion.
     "You were in love?"
"Yeah-" she replied. "I loved him, this is where he kissed me, well, before he died."
"I'm sorry- I never knew that about you Emi." I replied. She smiled a little.
"That's okay, we can make new memories here." She said. We looked at each other, and just stared. I didn't know what was happening, I was confused.
Emi inched closer to me, and put her arms around my neck, and kissed me. I didn't stop her- I didn't realize what I was doing, but in that moment I liked her, and I wanted to kiss her. She let go of me, and I just stared at her, then I realized what I did.
     "Emi- i can't, I- I love Tsubaki" I said.
"I know-" she replied. "Kousei- I love you." She said, grabbing my hand. I just stared at her, I didn't understand why she was acting like this.
"I- I have to go." I said, letting go of her hand and walking away.
