Kousei:
I sat by the front of school that day, just thinking. It was something I hadn't done in a while. Thinking about how much I screwed up, and thinking about Tsubaki, and how such a pretty girl like her would find a new guy quickly. All my thoughts were quickly erased to the sound of laughter, nearby. It was a familiar laugh, something I had definitely heard before. I looked up to see Tsubaki, talking to a guy. She seemed- happy, something I hadn't really seen her as in a while. It angered me, but it also saddened me, that she was seeing him. I knew him well, his name was Reo, a popular guy at our school. My heart filled with pain, I didn't know what to call it, jealousy?Tsubaki:
"You know you aren't that bad of a guy, Reo." I said.
"Well- I guess, but I'm not the best guy either." He said.
"Who is anyways?" I said. He laughed a little.
We walked to the sushi grill, it was a nice, cool, refreshening walk. The restaurant didn't have any customers that day, it was emptier than a heart after it had been broken.
A young girl, probably about our age, saw us and ran over to us. She had long blonde hair and green eyes. Her waist was thin and she wore red converse and shorts with a white T-shirt and an apron.
"Hi! Welcome to Sushi Grill! Where we sell sushi until you get sick! I'm sorry- I'm kind of new and I don't know what to say-" she said.
"It's okay, I understand the struggle." I replied. Her frown quickly turned to a bright smile.
"Well- right this way!" She said, gesturing us to follow her. She walked in the back of the restaurant and sat us at the back table, where the sunlight hit the most.
"Are you two a couple?" She asked, while setting down knives and forks.
"Nono, just friends." I replied.
"So now we're friends?" Reo asked in excitement and awe.
"Don't push it." I said. He smiled.
"So what would you guys like?" The girl asked.
"What would you like, m'lady?" Reo asked, sarcastically. I laughed.
"Can I have the California rolls?" I asked.
"Sure!" The girl replied. "Oh and, sir?"
"I'll have the same." He said.
"Mmk! I'll be right back with your order!" She said, walking away. I looked at her tag before she left, it read, "Aki".
"So, popular Reo, isn't it?" I said. Reo blushed.
"Well- I wasn't always..." he said.
"Oh? How did you get popular?" I asked.
"I don't know, hard work?" He answered unsurely.
"What kind of work?" I asked.
"I changed my personality, and my looks..." He replied. I almost choked on air.
"Why on earth would you do that?" I asked.
"I guess I wanted to be popular -" he replied. He really was stupid wasn't he?
"Well- what were you like before?" I asked.
"Shy, geeky, nice... I used to be a nobody who read books and sat in the back of a classroom." He said.
"Reo... hm... OH MY GOD! REO!" I shouted. "YOU ARE REO? REO THE SHORT GEEKY KID?"
"Maybe-" he said.
"Oh my god... I remember you, I remember what you were like, so kind, I used to ask you to do my homework.." I said.
"Yeah.. I remember." He said, laughing a little.
"God- what happened to you? I mean you were a legend for math, and music, god damn everyone would look at you and just sit there in awe." I said.
"I changed myself.." he replied. I thought he was absolutely stupid, completely and utterly just a moron.
"You shouldn't have, I liked you the way you were, and so did everyone else.." I said. He smiled.
We had a long conversation for hours on end, and hour by hour I got to know Reo better, and like him better, and knowing he wasn't just the f boy I thought he was. I knew that he had the heart of a kind person.
"Well I better get going now, it was a long day." I said.
"Yeah, it was..." he said. We stood right outside the grill, and it was dark outside by then, the moon was full, and the breeze was soft and nice. I noticed Reo starting to lean in, and me, trying to avoid any physical contact or awkwardness, started to babble.
"Well- um- I think I can walk home from here, so- bye Reo." I said.
"A-are you sure? I could walk you home, it seems dark out and I don't want you to be alone." He said.
"No it's fine." I replied.
"Ok, bye Tsubaki." He said. I waved, and we walked our separate ways.
"God damn- he tried to kiss me, and I just met him..." I thought. I had walked a bit, still thinking about it.
I stopped, hearing a noise from the bushes on the side of the street. The road was empty, I guess everyone was sleeping. I decided it must have been a bunny or something, and continued walking. When I heard it again, I knew someone was there.
"Who is it? Who's out there?" I shouted. No response. I heard the noise again, and this time a man came out of the bushes.
"Um.. hi?" I said, unsure, until I found him grabbing me.
"HEY! LET ME GO!" I screamed. He carried me into a dark alley. He threw me on the ground and started to unbutton my shirt.
"What are you doing? Stop it!" I shouted again. He touched me in all the wrong places and I screamed with a cry,
"please stop it!" He didn't stop. He forced me on my feet and started to kiss my neck. I yelped and cried for help but no one could hear me. He grabbed my butt while kissing my neck still. I tried to push him off me but he was too strong. He made me kiss him on the lips. His lips were scratchy, due to his mustache, and his breathe smelled like cigarettes. I managed to push him off me, and started running for my life.
He caught up to me though, and pushed me on the ground.
"Where do you think you're going, missy?" He said, in a snarly, scratchy voice. A voice called from the other side of the alley.
"Let her go!" He said. I could recognize that voice anywhere, it was Kousei. He held a bat in his hands, and ran over to the man. The man pushed him on the ground, and kicked him on the head.
"No!" I shouted. Kousei, got up on his feet and whacked the guy in the head with the bat. The man was knocked out cold. I looked at Kousei, my shirt was off and all I had on at that point was my bra and skirt, but I didn't care.
I ran over to Kousei and hugged him. I held onto him tight and any anger that I had with him melted. He wrapped his arms around my waist and hugged me. I didn't let go, I didn't want to let go, the feeling of being secure in his arms was all I needed. I started crying in his arms.
"It's okay, I'm here now." He whispered, hugging me more securely.Authors note:
