Your lie in May

Chapter 1 part 5:

There was a competition in a week but I couldn't seem to practice at all. I kept thinking of what happened at Tsubaki's house. What was that? "She doesn't like me does she? That's not possible, we are only friends. If she liked me she would have told me a long time ago, or would've made move already." I thought to myself. "But... She kind of already made a move.. I feel like she was going to kiss me.. But I don't know." I thought to myself. I didn't think anything for a while, and then I thought, "do I like her?" I couldn't seem to answer that question. I went to bed, still with the same question.

Tsubaki's point of view:

I woke up to the sound of piano, "Kousei," I thought. I got up and walked to the bathroom. I washed my face off and brushed my teeth. I purposely tried to make myself look pretty for Kousei. I don't know why. I walked downstairs with a thin layer of mascara and clear lipgloss on. I put on skinny jeans and a cute top instead of a jersey and shorts. When I walked out of my house, I pretended that I didn't know Kousei was there, even though I had purposely walked out at the same time he did. I felt his eyes on me, like I knew he was staring at me. He didn't come up to me but he was still staring at me.
"Stop staring at me you pervert!" I yelled, slapping him in the face. His face turned bright red, like he was caught doing something bad.
"I'm sorry, you just... You never wore makeup before, why start now?" He asked. I blushed. I didn't know how to get out of this situation.
"B-because I like someone!" I blurted. I immediately regretted saying that. His eyes grew wide.
"Who?" He asked. I tried to think of names that weren't his, but all I could think of was Kousei.
"K- Kou." I said, correcting myself from saying his name.
"I've never heard of anyone named Kou in our school." He said, looking at me suspiciously.
     "He's in all advanced. You wouldn't understand." I said. "Nice save." I thought.
     "Hm. Okay." He said.
     "So.. Competition soon huh?" I said.
     "Yeah.." He said.
     "Nervous?" I asked. I knew he wasn't, I was trying to get him fired.
     "Nervous? Since when was I nervous?" He asked. We were just about in school grounds.
     "We'll see when competition comes." I said, running towards the school fields. I could feel his eyes still on me.

     I wasn't running away from Kousei because I wanted to, I was running away because I needed help from Kashiwagi.
     "KASGIWAGI!" I shouted, running in her direction.
     "What..?" She asked.
     "I did something bad." I said.
     "Yeah, you put on makeup, what is it with you and trying to impress that Kousei guy? He's just a guy you know." She said.
     "No I didn't something worse. I told Kousei I liked someone named Kou." I said.
     "There's no one in this school named Kou." She said.
     "That's exactly my point.. I told him I liked a guy that doesn't exist." I said.
     "Ha. Haha. Hahahah. HAHAHA! Okay stop playing with me. " she said.
     "I'm not playing.." I said. Her eyes widened and she stopped smiling.
     "Are you serious?" She asked.
     "Yes." I said.
     "Oh my Jesus your so stupid." She said.
     "Well what am I gonna do?" I asked.
     "Hey, your mistake, your problem, don't drag me into this, it's just gonna turn into a huge lie." She said. I muttered. I knew she wouldn't be much help, but there was no way I was going to Watari for help, not after what he said, he'll just mock me more.

"I guess I was wrong, Tsubaki doesn't like me." I thought to myself.
"Hey." Someone said. I turned to see Watari.
"Hey." I said.
"You know where I can find that chick Emi?" He asked. Emi was a girl who played piano, had long black hair with bangs and light brown eyes, and went in competitions. Usually she went with Takeshi Aiza. They both play piano and they both want to beat me at competitions. I'm guessing that's why they always showed up at the same ones I go to. I laughed hysterically. "What? Why are you laughing?" He asked. After hysterically laughing for about 20 seconds, I calmed down.
"What, you like her?" I asked.
"What? She's cute." he said, smiling a little.
"I heard she's homeschooled." I said.
"Do you know her address?" He asked.
"Why would I know Emi's address?" I asked.
"I don't know, maybe she would give it to you, since she's always obsessed with you." He said.
"What? No, her and I are enemies. Well, I guess I'm her inspiration to play piano, but she still wants to beat me." I said.
"When's the next competition then?" He asked.
"Next week." I said.
"Okay, thanks bro." He said punching me in the arm and running into the fields to Tsubaki.
I saw Tsubaki talking with Watari, she looked worried, then he hysterically laughed and she punched him.

"This is serious!" I said. Watari continued laughing. I punched him again.
"I can't believe you did that." He said still laughing. I pushed him to the ground. "Feisty." He said.
"I'm serious! What am I going to do? If he figures out he'll know I like him." I said.
"He probably already knows Tsubaki." He said, getting up. I punched him again. "Would you stop? It hurts." He said.
"He can't figure out, if he does it'll ruin our friendship." I said.
"Okay fine I'll be serious. I have an idea, but it's crazy and stupid." He said.
"Who could be more crazy and stupid than us?" I asked.
"Okay, it's crazy, but we should admit a student to the school." He said.
"That's stupid!" I said slapping him again.
"Hey! I thought you said you were crazy!" He said, rubbing his chin.
"I am, but your not human, that's not crazy, that's insane." I said, crossing my arms.
"It's not a bad idea." Kashiwagi said walking up to us. They both looked at me.
"How in the world are we going to pull that off?" I asked.
"You can hire a person to pretend to like you and go to school here." Saito said, walking up to us. "Great, another person had to know I liked Kousei, and of course it had to be my ex." I thought to myself.
"That's a good idea, but where would we get the money to pay them?" Kashiwagi asked.
"I dunno.." Watari said.
"I have some money at my house, but it's only for emergencies." I said.
"Do you like Kousei?" Kashiwagi asked.
"Yes." I answered.
"Would you die for him?" She asked.
"Yes." I answered.
"Do you want him to know you like him?" She asked.
"No." I answered.
"Then it's an emergency." She said.
"Ooh let's call this operation K.A.S." Watari said.
"Operation K.A.S.? What does that mean?" Kashiwagi asked.
"Operation keep a secret. Duh." He answered. "Okay on three, one, two, three.."
"OPERATION K.A.S.!" Everyone shouted, putting their hands in.
