Quick A/N before the chapter: I can't tell you enough how pleased I am with the response to this story. My friends are loving it, and even people I don't know are loving it. I'm bad at surprises, so here it goes: the climax of the story has not come yet. Marina and Alex finally getting together was only a rising action. Be warned that this story is not all shits and giggles, and it will get pretty insane. Read on my cherubs!

Alex's POV:

We were on the bus, on our way to New York, where we had one last show tomorrow before heading to the U.K. for a small Euro-tour. My mind was going at a slow pace, only thinking about Marina's dad, and what he said. I felt like such a failure. Marina tried to tell me she has trouble with the nobs all the time, but I highly doubted it. She was a lot more technically inclined than I was. For the first time since we started dating, I felt worthless. And I wasn't even sure she could make me feel better.

As of now, she was sprawled across my lap, reading a magazine. I was staring unconciously at the TV. Suddenly, my phone started bzzing. Oo, a text. From Mark Hoppus. It read: "hey, you in NYC yet? i'm here right now, if u wanna hang".

"Hey babe," I began. "You wanna go out to dinner with Mark Hoppus tonight?"

"Oh my god, yes!" she fangirled.

I texted him back. "yeah, dinner for six?". He replied with "perfect. bring your gf". I slipped my phone back in my pocket.

"Alex, you feeling alright?" she set down the magazine, sitting up to ask.

No. I feel lousy. But I didn't wanna hurt her feeling, and I didn't want to talk about it in front of these guys. "I'm fine."

"Really, because you don't seem fine." she sat on my lap, criss-cross, facing me.

"Just a little tired." I lied again.

She lowered her voice to a whisper. "I'm sorry what my dad said. I swear, everybody has problems with that shower. He was just angry."

Of course, she knew exactly how I felt. But that can't stop me from feeling it. "I just feel kinda-"

"Embarassed." she said, almost like a wink. She knew I was feeling lousy. "I know, baby. But you're awesome and sweet and by far the most amazing guy I've ever met."

"Not for long." a smirk spread across my face.

"Why?"

"Because you're meeting Mark Hoppus."

She grinned broadly. "This is too insane."

We rolled in front of a hotel. "C'mon, babe. Let's go."

"Colbs, are we sharing a room?" she asked.

"Yeah, but Luke is gonna stop by." she said, heading out behind us.

"It's okay, you guys can have all the crazy sex you want. We're going out to dinner." I smirked.

Colby started shaking. Was I missing something?

"Hey, Emily, what floor are we?" Marina asked.

"Eleventh, why?"

"You know what, fuck it. I'm still taking the stairs." she started to wander in that direction.

"No you're not." I picked her up and threw her over my shoulder.

"Alex, don't, please." she begged, really starting to panic.

"You are going to face your fear of elevators, and you are going to be fine. You're with me."
