Back at home I laid down on my bed, with my mind in thoughts. "Mandy, you disappeared right when you walked through the front door" My dad said and sat down next to me. I sat up "Do you sometimes remember what it is like to be human? Remember your human life?" I asked him and he seemed uncomfortable "I do sometimes, but it wasn't always the best. I was forced to love this girl, even though I loved another" He said. "You mean my mom? You loved my mom?" I asked and he nod. "I really did love her. After I was turned I tried to find her, but I couldn't. She was gone" He said and I laid my head down on his shoulder "But at least we found each other" I told him and he smiled "Yeah we did"

"Do you wanna know what's creepy?" I asked. "What?" "I think I was in love with my uncle. Not Damon, I mean James. Your half-brother" I told him "I just didn't know. I found out after I had left and sadly I never got the chance to say goodbye" I said and looked down. "That was his name? James?" He asked and I nod "The maid your dad got pregnant to keep the Salvatore name alive named him James Giuseppe Salvatore. After his deceased dad, who he never got to meet. Kind of like me. I didn't meet my parents when I was human. I had to become a vampire to find you" I told him.

"Do you regret having become a vampire?" He asked me. I looked at him. Into his eyes. "It wasn't really my choice dad. Emily turned me through a spell. I don't even know if I am a vampire" I said. "Emily? But you don't mean Emily-" "Bennett? Yes, did you know another one?" I asked him confused. "What do you have to do with Emily Bennett?" He asked. He was still confused. "She raised me" I told him. "Oh- okay. Hey, I'm gonna come back later. Just call me when you need me" Stefan said, got up and used his vampire speed to leave.

"Well that was weird" I said and left my room as well. I walked through the boarding house and somehow ended up in front of the door to Jeremy's room. I ended up knocking. "Who's there?" He asked. I opened the door and stuck my head inside "Me. Can I come in?" I asked him. He hesitated for a moment, but then allowed me to walk into his room. I closed the door and turned around to him. He was laying on his bed with his laptop and headphones laying next to him. "Why were you so weird earlier?" I asked, walking towards him on that bed. "I don't know what you are talking about" He said. I sighed, but decided to let it go. But there was something else I wanted to know.

"Do you know why Stefan freaked when I mentioned Emily Bennett?" I asked and he had an similar face expression, but other than my dad he sighed and told me to sit down. He put his laptop down and sat up. "Emily Bennett was a witch in 1864. She was the witch that helped Stefan and Damon right after they had turned" He said and made a short break "As well as the ancestor of my sister's best friend.... and my ex-girlfriend. She died. Overuse of her magic" He explained and I could tell how much it was hurting him to talk about her.

I got closer to him, hoping I was able to comfort him. "I don't have luck with girls, so you better stay away from me" He said and wanted to back away, but I grabbed his wrist, holding him in place "I'm not leaving!" I told him "But why would you think you have no luck with girls?" I asked him carefully. "My first girlfriend was Vicki Donovan. She was turned into a vampire and then was killed, right in front of my eyes. She wanted to kill my sister and Stefan wanted to save her, so Vicki had to die" He said and I placed my hand on his arm, rubbing it slowly. "Then there was Anna. My own uncle killed her. She was a vampire. She introduced me to the world of vampires. Well and then there was Bonnie" He told me and as I progressed what he had just told me, one name sounded familiar.

"Anna? As in Annabelle? With her mom Pearl?" I asked and he nod. "I actually know Anna!" I told him and he looked up. "What do you mean, you know her?" He asked confused. "She was one of my best friends"

"Where have you been? Emily was worried sick about you?" I asked Annabelle. Emily took her under her wings when her mother died. Just like it had happened with me. "I was out for a walk. It makes me miss my mother less" She said and looked down. "Awe Annabelle" I said and hugged her "I wish I could help you" I said and held her tight. "There's nothing you can do, I'm afraid" She said and we let go of each other.

"But maybe I can help to distract you. Come horse back riding with James and I. I know you love horses" I said and she was thinking for a moment. She wasn't sure. "It will be fun" I told her and she sighed "When do we leave?" She asked and a smile grew on my face "In ten minutes! You need to report to Emily and I need to pick up Marybeth from the neighbours house. You know how Emily is about her daughter" I said and Annabelle nod.

We then parted ways. She went to Emily, while I went to get Marybeth. I couldn't get rid of the feeling that I was being watched. I looked around and turned around so many times, but nobody was there. I was being paranoid.

I was watching her as promise. I promised Emily in order to save Katherine to look out for her children. I was going to keep that promise until I was finally reunited with my beloved Katherine. If I have to watch over some kids, so shall be it.

"So soon already?" Marybeth asked and I nod "I'm sorry, but your mother wishes you home for lunch" "While you and Annabelle get to leave whenever you wish" She said sulky. "Annabelle and I are older than you. We are almost ready to get married and have a family our own" I said and Marybeth rolled her eyes "I don't see you in a life like that. I see you in a life, where you are forever young. No own family. Just you and your parents" She said and I looked down at her "That's really nice of you, but you and I both know that it will never happen. My parents are long gone, probably even dead. It is just me, you, Emily and Annabelle" I told her, putting an arm around her.

Mystic Falls, Virginia. Today

Maybe Marybeth wasn't wrong after all. I mean, she was right about me finding my dad, but I don't think she got the part about my mother right. She couldn't have, right?

"Mandy" Jeremy said and got my attention. "I'm sorry, I was thinking about human me" I said and laid back sighing. At this point I didn't even care that this wasn't my bed or that Jeremy's leg was my pillow. I was confused about what Marybeth said that day. "Is it hard to think about that? I mean remembering human you?" He asked and I shrugged "I'm used to being a vampire or whatever I am. Guess only Emily Bennett can answer that question" I said and closed my eyes.
