After I finished, I pushed the plate back. "Okay, I'm stuffed" I said. "I would be too after five sandwiches" Matt said, cleaning some glasses. "Can I have one?" I asked, refering to the bourbon. "No" He said and I groaned "Why not?" "Because you're a minor!" He said. "I'm older than you!" I said and he laughed "Nice try, but my boss will kill me and so will your dad" He added. "Fine... What do I owe you?" I asked him. "10,50" He said and my eyes widen "What?" I asked in shocked. "Like I said, you ate five sandwiches" He said and I rolled my eyes. I paid my bill and said goodbye. I was about to leave, when Matt caught up to me.

"I'm giving you are ride" He said. "You really don't have to, I can just walk" I said, but he didn't let go. "Fine!" I said and got onto the passenger seat of his car. "Why are you doing this?" I asked him. "Because I actually like you, unlike other people. Possibly because I haven't seen you doing anything bad to a human yet" He said and I looked at him. "Possibly because I never killed anyone. I wouldn't be able to handle that, but let's talk about something else. Like what do you want to do? I mean, I don't think you want to work at the Grill forever" I said. "You're right, I don't. I thought about becoming a cop. I hate living in this town, watching people die, without being able to do anything against it. It kills me" He said. "I know what you mean, well not exactly, but not aging is horrible. Watching everyone you care about die..." I said "My best friend, my little sister, well foster sister, but Marybeth was my sister" I said.

"I'm kind of jealous of you" He suddenly said. "Why?! I'm living a curse. I am a living curse" I said. "You have a family, even if you could have done better, but you are not alone in this world" He said and I looked down. Matt didn't have anyone. He had a dead sister and M.I.A. mom and a long lost father. "It's gonna be okay Matt" I said, giving him a small, but warm smile. "We're here" He said and stopped the car. "Thank you for the ride" I told him. "No problem" He said and I got out. As soon as the car door was closed, he drove off. I waved after him until he disappeared behind the trees. I turned around and walked into the house. "Who is there?!" Damon yelled. "A thief that happened to be your niece" I yelled back. "Can you leave again?!" He asked a little annoyed like an older brother would. "Not gonna happen. I'm gonna go to bed" I said and went into my room and grabbed everything I needed for a bath.

I went to the bathroom and locked it, then turned on the water to fill the bathtub. I sat down on the closed toilet and took my phone out. My eyes fell on Rebekah's contact information.

New Orleans, Lousiana. 1901

I was following every trail I found that had something to do with vampires. I hoped that New Orleans could help me. Late at night I entered a bar. The doorman wanted to kick me out again, but I used my compulsion to make him let me stay. I sat down at the bar and ordered myself a drink. I was kind of lonely ever since Annabelle had taken off, which was a short time after I was turned. People would have noticed that she wasn't aging.

"What is a beautiful girl like you doing alone here?" A charming young man approached me. I was annoyed, so I looked into his eyes and tried to compel him "Why don't you leave me alone Sir. I am really not up to a flirt tonight" I said. "Feisty. I like that trait in a woman" He said and I was confused that my compulsion didn't work. It worked just a few minutes ago, why not now?!

"I told you Sir, that I'm not intrested" I said again, trying to compel him, but yet again I failed. "I'm sorry, is my brother bothering you?" A tall blonde asked, as she was standing next to me. "What? I'm just looking for a toy" He said, like it was nothing extraordiary and I think by now I did understand what was going on here. "I'm not a toy" I said and got up from my stool. "Why don't you forget our conversation" He said, looking into my eyes. "I'd like to, but that's kinda hard when I have to look into your awful face" I said and started walking off.
