Sit still, would you?" Poppyfur demanded, and Dawnpaw forced herself to sit still while Poppyfur inspected her shoulder. Impatience and anxiety clawed at her heart, she struggled to keep her paws still. Poppyfur gave her shoulder another stiff then stepped back, narrowing her green eyes at Dawnpaw. Dawnpaw held her breath, waiting for Poppyfur's answer. "Very well, you can go. Just take it easy."
Excitement shot through Dawnpaw like lightning, she jumped to her paws with joy. "Thank you, Poppyfur!" She mewed, and quickly bounded out out of the nursery.
"I said take it easy!" Dawnpaw heard Poppyfur shout with a twinge of anger in her mew, Dawnpaw skidded to a stop and looked sheepishly over her shoulder. It had been over a moon since an eagle attacked Pebblekit and Dawnpaw saved her. Dawnpaw had been stuck in the medicine cat den and unable to participate in any of her apprentice training, it also caused her to miss the last gathering.
This would be the third gathering since Dawnpaw had become an apprentice, the first she missed because Sunstream didn't allow her to go, but now she was finally able to go! Dawnpaw's was eager to meet cats from the other Clans, and travel beyond SunClan's territory. Dawnpaw quickly padded away from the medicine cat den, she spotted her brother standing with his mentor.
She quickly trotted over to him. "Turtlepaw!" She called out. Turtlepaw looked over his shoulder, and called her over.
"What's up?" He questioned when Dawnpaw grew closer.
"Poppyfur told me I'm okay to go to the gathering tonight." She explained, unable to contain the excitement in her voice.
"Really?" Turtlepaw's eyes widened with excitement. "That's great!" This would be Turtlepaw's second gathering, and he had told her about the one he had been to. Dawnpaw couldn't wait to go and expierance it for herself.
"I should go tell Sunstream." Dawnpaw mewed, she turned away from her brother and located her mentor talking with Lionpaw and Goldenpaw. She quickly padded up to her mentor.
Sunstream looked at Dawnpaw when she approached. "Hello there, Dawnpaw." She greeted kindly. "How is your shoulder feeling?" She questioned. Ever since Dawnpaw was injured, Sunstream had visited her in the medicine cat den a few times, promising to help her catch up on her training as quick as possible.
"It's feeling great, actually." Dawnpaw replied, glancing at her shoulder. Her golden-brown fur was parted by several large scars, she hoped in time they would heal and get smaller. The biggest scar on the other apprentices was a knick in Adderpaw's ear, most warriors in SunClan didn't have scars as big as hers. Dawnpaw turned her attention back to Sunstream. "Poppyfur told me I was able to go to the gathering, if that's alright with you."
Sunstream purred. "Of course that's alright, you should've been to the last gathering. I"m glad you get to go this time."
"The gathering is so much fun!" Lionpaw boasted, his amber eyes sparkling. "There's so many other cats and you get to see the other leaders!"
Dawnpaw could feel his excitement, she couldn't wait to see all the other Clan cats. Not just the leaders either, but the deputies, medicine cats and all the other apprentices. She wanted to see how the other Clans acted, if their apprentices and warriors were any different than SunClan's.
Sunstream looked at her son with soft eyes. "Well there is still a bit of time before we leave for the gathering, why don't you two go find something to do until then. Ask your mentors if they need you for anything." She instructed Lionpaw and Goldenpaw. Goldenpaw nodded and quickly padded off towards Sandfoot. Lionpaw, however, was a bit hesitant but did listen to his mother and went towards Rustpelt who was in the same direction.
