Dawnstar's Trouble {COMPLETE}

Chapter 47

Blood roared in Dawnstar's ears. Cats were yowling, hissing and crying in the pain. The world around her was a blur, the four Clans were fighting to the death. I need to find Thornstar. She told herself. This will all end if he's dead. Dawnstar had never taken another cats life, but she knew that none of this would end until Thornstar was dead. My family, my friends, my Clan. They're all counting to me. Dawnstar looked around, trying to spot his pale tabby pelt through the war zone. She saw Icepetal fighting side by side with Mossleaf of MoonClan against two tabby rogues. Icepetal had a wound down her side and Mossleaf's right ear was shredded and bleeding heavily.

I need to stop wasting time. Dawnstar told herself, taking a deep breath she plunged into the heart of the battle. Instantly, a rogue was jumping on her back, ripping at her fur. With a yowl of fury Dawnstar bucked, kicking the rogue off and causing him to fall to the ground. Instantly, she whirled on her paws and slashed at his face will full force, blood sprayed the ground and the rogue let out a wail of pain. He stumbled backwards, unable to open his eyes as they filled with blood.

"Get out of my forest!" Dawnstar spat and lashed out again, catching his ear and tearing it. The rogue hissed once more before turning back and vanishing. Dawnstar turned, looking for cats in help. She heard the cry of Cloudspots and instantly ran in the direction of her former's apprentice's wails. She found him backing away from two large toms, he had a large wound down his side and one of his eyes was stuck shut with blood due to a wound over his eye.

Letting out a battle cry, Dawnstar attacked one of the rogues. She dug her claws deep into his flank and ripped away at his flesh. He cried in pain and tried fighting back. While she attacked one, Cloudspots went after the other. Biting into his shoulder and pushing him away. The rogue that Dawnstar attack kicked her off and jumped towards her, going directly for the throat.

Dawnstar ducked out of the way and met him before he got to her, sinking her teeth deep into his shoulder. She bit down hard and raked her claws down his flank. He cried in pain and his friend shoved away Cloudspots to attack her.

"No!" Cloudspots cried and jumped after him, digging claws into his spine. Dawnstar broke away from the other rogue and turned to her apprentice. Cloudspots was on his back now, the brown rogue had pinned him. Dawnstar saw panic flash in his blue eyes as the rogue came in for the kill, but before Dawnstar could act Cloudspots did first. His teeth met the rogue's neck and he bit down.

The rogue let out a choking sound before his body went limp on top of Cloudspots. The gray and white warrior scrambled out from under him, looking terrified. The other rogue let out a cry for his fallen friend and ran away from Dawnstar and Cloudspots.

"I-I didn't want to kill him, I just--" Cloudspots stammered, stumbling backwards. His eyes were round with horror. Dawnstar touched her nose to his cheek.

"It's okay, Cloudspots. You had to save your own life. You've fought so well and I'm so proud of you." Dawnstar tried assuring him, and it looked like it helped. He stepped back and looked around, giving his wounds a sniff. Dawnstar looked out into the fury of fighting cats. "I'm going to have to kill Thornstar, many cats are going to die today."

"I wish it didn't have to be this way." Cloudspots said sadly.

"Me too." Dawnstar looked at the young warrior. "Stay strong, fight for your Clan. We will survive this, I promise."

Cloudspots just nodded, but Dawnstar could see a fire burning his eyes. She gave him a nod in return and ran back into the fray, still searching for Thornstar. She ran through the fighting cats, searching desperately for the AshClan leader. She could already see dead bodies, some rogues she didn't know but some she knew quite well. She spotted Foxwhisker and Mudpelt of LichenClan, Grasstail of AshClan, Smallstrike of MoonClan. He turned his back on the Clans, but I wish he didn't have to die for it.
