The fighting had stopped, but the sounds of battle still rang in the air. The wounded cats were being cared for, and Dawnstar was heading to MoonClan camp. She wanted nothing more than to see her kits and the cat she loved. Her body was sore and burned from the wounds across her pelt; but she refused to be seen by a medicine cat until every other cat was attended to; the fatal wound in her neck had closed and was no longer a threat. She was accompanied by Earthpaw who was helping Adderstrike and Mossleaf back to MoonClan camp as well. She had never seen the Clans come so close together, she was proud that they had worked together. Dawnstar moved through the forest quickly, jumping the river into MoonClan territory and rushing into the camp.
She was shocked when she got there to see two bodies lying in the middle of camp; one was of a rogue she had never seen before and the other dropped her heart into her paws. It was Hawktalon, lifeless and blood welling from a gash on his side. Panic shot through Dawnstar's blood, where were Honeykit and Falconkit, and Lionclaw? "Lionclaw!" She called her mates name, and sighed with relief as she stepped out of the leader's den, blood was clumped around his old wound, when she saw Dawnstar he rushed to her side; greeting her with nuzzles and purrs.
"Dawnstar! Thank StarClan you're alright!" He said with a slight pant to his mew. "I've been worried this entire time."
Dawnstar looked at Hawktalon's body. "What happened here? How did he?"
Lionclaw's eyes grew sad. "Some of the rogues came to MoonClan camp, trying to attack the kits. Hawktalon was the first one to jump in a defend them, but..." His voice choked off.
"I had never seen a blind elder fight so hard." Ravenheart, the MoonClan medicne cat mewed. "I just wished we could've saved him."
"We did all we could, and he saved all of the kits in MoonClan camp." Ebonywing purred kindly. "Hawktalon will be regarded as a hero by all four Clans."
"You're back!" Dawnstar heard the tiny squeak of Falconkit, he bounded out of the leader's den with Honeykit hot on his heels. Her heart jumped with love as she saw her two kits, safe and alive and they would remain that way.
"So since you're here..." Lionclaw said quietly. "I suppose that means that Thornstar is..."
Dawnstar stopped him before he could finish his sentence. "Yes, he is" She said, touching his muzzle with hers. "It's all over now."
"So who do you think is going to take over being leader and medicine cat for AshClan?" Lionclaw asked with a stretch. "They really don't have one."
Dawnstar shrugged. "Medicine cat I'm not sure, but Riverstorm is the proper successor to Lionstar." She explained. "But we will find out tonight." Dawnstar licked her pelt smooth, the Clans had agreed to take two days to recover and tend to wounds with no worries about borders and at the end of the two days would meet back at the Gathering Hollow and announce the changes and honor the fallen warriors. It was the end of the two days, and Dawnstar had gotten all she had wanted to in order. SunClan had discovered the death of Stormwind and Willownose after the fighting had stopped, and Rustpelt's wounds had been too severe and he died after returning to camp.
Dawnstar exited her den where Honeykit and Falconkit were sleeping, they had been exhausted from the trip back and all of the excitement, neither of them quiet understood the severity of the battle and Dawnstar was okay with that. They were still young; she didn't want them scarred for life. Dawnstar looked around her camp, it was quiet but the cats were moving along and recovering slowly but surely.
"Dawnstar." Dawnstar looked at saw Sandfoot limping from the medicine cat den. "I need to talk to you." The SunClan deputy had been restricted to the medicine cat for her wounds.
