I will kill you Thornstar. Dawnstar told herself, running back into the battle of the Clans. No matter what, I will stop you. As she ran through the fighting, she thought back to all the times she had dealt with Thornstar. He was her mentor, he taught her everything she knew to this day. Yet he tried to kill her, he caused the deaths of Sunstream, Tigertail, her parents and any cat that had fallen here today. You've caused the death of your own sun, Thornstar. I doubt he even cares.
With energy coursing through her veins, Dawnstar ran through the fight. Warding off rogues who tried to attack her. She only had one goal, to find and kill Thornstar. She wouldn't give up, she had to keep fight no matter what.
"Traitor!" The voice of Cinderflame brought Dawnstar to a halt. She looked around, looking for her friend. She spotted her dark gray pelt and burning amber eyes and she tackled Rockfur to the ground. Dawnstar hadn't seen the former SunClan warrior since he had been exiled. Cinderflame's eyes burned as intensely as the fire that ravaged SunClan territory.
"Cinderflame, you do not understand! I'm doing this because it's right!" Rockfur wailed, clawing at Cinderflame. His claws caught her leg, sending blood spraying across the grass.
"This isn't right!" Cinderflame yelled in return, Dawnstar noticed Yarrowtail watching in horror from several taillengths away. "You're wrong! You've always been wrong!" Cinderflame tackled her father to the ground. "You didn't deserve my mother! You don't deserve any of us!" Cinderflame's body tremble, Dawnstar had never seen her so emotional. "All the things you said to your kits! Pebblestep saved the Clan! Yarrowtail is the best tracker SunClan has ever seen! Cloudspots is so brave and so full of energy he could fight the entire forest if he had to! But you, you're just a coward! You hide behind Thornstar because you're too scared to think for yourself!" The world to seem go silent as Cinderflame swung her paw, claws tearing into Rockfur's throat. She fell off of her father and to the ground, her body trembling. "We all looked up to you..."
Dawnstar's heart twisted as she saw the look in Rockfur's eyes change, they turned into honey as he looked at his daughter. Blood poured rapidly from the wound in his neck, but he didn't seem scared about it. "You're right." He choke out, shocking Cinderflame, Yarrowtail and Dawnstar. "I'm so sorry, I wish I could take back the things I said. I thought I knew what was right but I was so wrong. I've failed you and your mother, I don't deserve wonderful kits like you. I'm so proud of all of you..."
Cinderflame stared at her father in shock as his voice trailed off. The light faded from his amber eyes and Rockfur died. Dawnstar approached Cinderflame. So many families have been torn apart by Thornstar. She thought painfully, remembering how Cherrypaw was forced to kill her own brother.
"Cinderflame." She spoke, the dark gray she-cat looked up. "I'm proud of you. You're one of the best warriors I could've asked for, you too Yarrowtail."
Cinderflame stood up, shaking her broad head. "I didn't want to kill him, and had I known how he truly felt.." He voice cracked. "I wouldn't have."
"Death is what made him realize that he was wrong." Dawnstar replied. "It's horrible that that's what it took, but you did what you had to do to protect the Clans, just like I have to."
"You have to kill Thornstar." She mewed, her voice dry.
Dawnstar nodded. "I only wish I could find him, he could be anywhere. Killing any cat I care about..." Images of Honeykit and Falconkit flashed in her mind.
"I saw him." Yarrowtail spoke him, clearly in shock by the death of his father. "He was fighting Shadowstar and Frostfire with Echoheart. I think Shadowstar lost a life." Dawnstar's heart twisted.
