"Be good, you two. Pay attention in class and remember not to go associating with...the wrong kind," Narcissa took turns hugging both Draco and Aludra and kissed their foreheads.

"Don't worry, Mum. We'll stay away from them," Aludra chirped. Although she would miss her parents, she was exhilarated for her first year at Hogwarts with her brother. Narcissa gave them both a watery smile and took her husband talking to them as an opportunity to wipe her eyes.

"You heard what your mother said and I would like to further elaborate on it," Lucius said sternly. "We expect for you to uphold the family tradition and go into Slytherin, where only the most honorable children go. You must uphold the family name through your behavior and academic success. I will tolerate no nonsense from either one of you, you hear? I will be receiving monthly reports from Severus and if I hear that either one of you have put a single toe out of line -"

The way he left his sentence hanging implicated horrible consequences up ahead if did misbehave. "Yes, Father," they said, faces solemn. They knew just how serious he was and, just for emphasis, Aludra heard his voice ringing in her head.

I know you are more tolerant of the other kind. Aludra, promise Daddy you'll keep a distance from Mudbloods and other scum?

Hearing his rarely gentle tone of voice, Aludra became willing to abide by his every wish. She grinned up at him and jumped up, arms around his neck and feet no longer on the floor. He held her close so she wouldn't hit the ground. Aludra kissed his cheek and whispered in his ear, "I promise, Daddy,"

The warning whistle sounded and Narcissa began to fret. "Oh! Hurry, you'll miss the train! Draco, do you have your wand? You forget it all over the place - Aludra, find Pansy and Astoria when you get on the train! Write to us every week...Draco, don't you dare begin to cry now!"

"Go on, children. We love you." Lucius said, pushing them to the train. Aludra grabbed Draco's hand as the crowd became thicker and busier. They managed to get onto the train and hurried to find an empty compartment.

"Didn't Mum say to find Pansy and Astoria?" Aludra asked.

"Lu, I don't want to sit with her. I want to sit with you," he sighed as if it was obvious. Aludra giggled and squeezed his hand, which she still hadn't released. Finally, they find an empty compartment and dash inside, slamming the door shut so no one else would sneak in. They sit by the window and looked about wildly for their parents, beginning to panic when the train started to move.

"Where are they?" Draco sounded especially let down. Aludra pointed.

"There - look!"

There they stood, smiling and waving at the siblings. Aludra and Draco laughed, doing the same back to them as their figures became smaller and smaller the more the train distanced. As they rounded a corner, they disapparated.

"It's finally happening," Draco said, as if it was too good to be true. "We've waiting our whole lives."

"Well, not exactly our whole lives, Draco," Aludra chuckled, but she understood his amazement. Hogwarts was something every magical British child dreamed of, since their parents, grandparents and so many more had such gripping stories of the school. Aludra vaguely remembered her mother mentioning that the ceiling in the Great Hall reflected the night's sky with hundreds of floated candles to replace the stars.

"You know what I mean," Draco laughed. Some time had passed since the train departed from King's Cross and the brother and sister still sat across from each other, needing nothing more than the other's company to keep them occupied. They spoke of all the things they would accomplish during their time at school; Quidditch, Prefects, Head Boy and Girl...They imagined it all.
