Hey, guys! I know I haven't updated in a while, but I've spent this time away thinking about the plot of Aludra and where I want it to go. Now I'm not going to tell you what's going to happen, but the series will be more based on the books than the movies, and since I always imagined book Hermione as black, that's what she will be described as in this book. So please, no "But Hermione waz white lol jk said 'her white face poked out from behind a tree' in the third book hurr durr!" My interpretation of book Hermione was a little black girl with bushy brown hair and buck teeth who didn't feel like she would fit in, so she tried to show off how much she knew about school. In this book, Hermione finna be black. Enjoy this chapter ❤
______________The next morning, Aludra was the only one left in her dormitory. She shot upright in her new bed, looking around for the clock in a panic. Seeing that it was already 7:45 and breakfast began at 8, she rushed out of bed. Missing a meal meant detention at Hogwarts.
Slightly upset that none of her roommates woke her up, Aludra threw on her school uniform and forced the brush through her curly black hair, leaving it out in its natural, shoulder-length state. She grabbed her bag and ran down the spiral staircase and into the common room, just in time to see Ron and Harry leaving through the portrait hole.
"Wait!" she called out, catching up to them in a hurry. When she did, Aludra took a few moments to gasp for breath.
"Are you alright?" Ron asked. Aludra shook her head rapidly, hair quaking.
"Of course not! Our first day and we're late? This is dreadful," she moaned, standing straight again. Harry looked very befuddled.
"But, it's only breakfast," he countered. "How can we be late for breakfast?"
"By not showing up on time, that's how. We can get detentions for missing it!" Aludra said.
"Well, we won't miss it," Ron said confidently as they all began to walk the memorized way to the Great Hall. "How big can this school really be?"
There's a hundred and forty-two staircases at Hogwarts.
Wide, stable ones; narrow, wobbly ones; some that led somewhere different on a certain day; some with a vanishing step halfway up that you had to remember to jump, or else you'd fall through. This was all incredibly confusing for the three first years, but they somehow managed to make their way to the hall for breakfast on time.
"Isn't that him?"
"Where?"
"There, next to the boy with the red hair and the tall girl."
"Did you see his face?"
"Look at his scar!"
These whispers came about the moment they walked in the Great Hall together, students swiveling around on the benches to crane their necks and gawk at the trio. Aludra knew that Harry was very uncomfortable, but felt better with her and Ron at his side. They took their seats at the Gryffindor table near Neville, Seamus and Hermione, making small talk about the day's lessons.
"Fred tol' me we be 'aving McGonargall too-day," Ron said through a mouthful of egg. Cringing, Aludra averted her gaze to an equally disgusted Hermione.
"Why didn't you wake me up this morning?" Aludra inquired. Hermione gave her an apologetic look.
"We tried to, but we couldn't. You were almost like a rock," she reasoned. Aludra blushed and sent her a bashful smile.
"Yeah, sorry about that. I really love my sleep," she grinned, feeling content when Hermione smiled back.
"The post is here," Neville commented, looking at the high window. And he was correct; hundreds of owls were swooping in, dropping letters and packages to students as the went. A big grey owl landed before Ron with a package, took a slice of bacon off of his plate, and left. Shaking his head and muttering something about 'That bloody owl', Ron untied the package and, to everyone's mirth, pulled out a pair of maroon socks.
