Lucius Malfoy walked briskly up the stairs and down the corridor, his face reddened by anger. He told the children that they had to be up and ready by 9AM, so that Diagon Alley wouldn't be overcrowded with people. It was now 9:30, and there was still no sign of them. He flung open Draco's door.
"I thought I told you to be -" Lucius cut himself off. Draco's bed was vacant, nothing but ruffled sheets in his place. Lucius assumed he must be in the bathroom, and walked ahead to Aludra's room. He opened the door and stepped in, befuddled at the sight before him.
Draco and Aludra were laying side by side, heads propped up on the same pillow and sleeping peacefully. A little bit of drool was trailing out of Draco's mouth and pooling onto the pillow beneath Aludra's cheek. Lucius cleared his throat loudly and both children jumped, looking around in bewilderment. When they caught sight of their father, they knew they were in trouble.
"What time do you call this? I told you two to be ready for half an hour ago!" he yelled. "And what the devil are you doing in here, Draco?"
"I...I..." Draco was at loss for words. Was he supposed to admit that he was terrified of the thunder and ran straight to his sister's room? Boys were supposed to be strong and unafraid, not afraid of the weather.
"Well? I'm waiting!" Lucius snapped.
"I was scared of the thunder, sir," Aludra said. Draco swiveled his head to gaze at her in awe. "I woke Draco up and asked if he could come and sleep with me. Sorry."
"Ridiculous," he hissed. "And didn't I tell you to be ready for 9AM? What time do you call this?"
"Uhh," Aludra turned to look at the clock on the far side of her room. "I believe it's 9:30,"
Lucius scowled at her. "Be ready within ten minutes or come as you are. Both of you!" and he stormed out of Aludra's room, slamming the door behind him.
"Why did you do that?" Draco asked.
"Because I knew I'd get in a lot less trouble than you if I did," Aludra said. "Now hurry up and get in the bathroom. Dad's livid." Draco scrambled out of the bed and before he could leave, Aludra launched the spit-soaked pillow at him. "And take this!"
Aludra only washed up, knowing that time wasted getting into the tub would only mean less time to tame her hair. When Aludra was ready, she grabbed her cloak and ran down the hallway, slapping her brother's door as she passed. "Hurry up!" she warned, and sprinted down the stairs. As soon as her feet made contact with the ground, there was the rapid clacking of claws against the black marble floor and suddenly, a massive, hairy weight knocked her over.
"What the -? Astra, get off of me!" Aludra cried, trying to push the Siberian husky away. However, it seemed that the dog was far too busy licking her face to obey. There was more padding against the floor. "Hunter! Good boy, help me!"
Hunter, it seemed, was not there to help. Instead, he joined in on licking Aludra's face, wagging his tail happily.
"Oi, get away! Go!" Draco commanded as he descended down the stairs. The dogs barked in reply, but merely backed away and sat down, panting.
"Thanks," Aludra muttered as she got up. "They only listen to you,"
"That's because you're not intimidating in the slightest. Where's Father?" he said.
"In the kitchen, probably." Aludra said. While Draco walked through the double doors that lead to the kitchen, Aludra stayed behind a moment to pet the dogs and allow them to lick her hands. "I missed you two fuzz balls," Aludra cooed. "How're my fur babies? Did you miss Mummy? Yes you did! Yes you -!"
