(Y/N)'s Point of View:
I watched Dad go through my closet before cursing loudly, standing and racking a hand through his green hair. I squeezed Fluffy close to my chest, remembering how soft he was, and how much I loved him. "Daddy," I said quietly.

He spun to face me, and smiled slightly. "Hey, whatcha doing there?"

I sat up, and held out Fluffy. "He always made me feel better. Feel how soft he is!"

After a moments hesitation, he carefully held Fluffy, running a finger over his left ear, and smiling softly. "Yeah," he whispered. "He is pretty soft," Dad plopped down next to me, pulling me into his lap.

I took Fluffy from him, and looked up. "Could you sing for me again, Daddy? Before we have to go?"

Dad sighed, then leaned back. "Yeah, yeah... Hold on a moment."

A moment passed before he took in a deep breath, and closed his eyes, smiling.

"'Smile, the worst is yet to come
We'll be lucky if we ever see the sun
Got nowhere to go, we could be here for a while
But the future is forgiven, so smile," he looked down at me, his own smile growing at the sight of mine.

"We're trying so hard to get it all right
But only feel lonely at the end of the night
I wanna be somewhere away from this place
Yeah, somewhere just a little closer to grace,

"I'll smile, the worst is yet to come
We'll be lucky if we ever see the sun
Got nowhere to go, we could be here for a while
But the future is forgiven, so smile
Smile,

"Well, call me loser, call me thief
Tell me I'm special when you spit at me
'Cause I don't wanna be lonely, I wanna be loved
And I want you to hold me like I'm the only one,

"I'll smile, the worst is yet to come
We'll be lucky if we ever see the sun
Got nowhere to go, we could be here for a while
But the future is forgiven, so smile
Smile," I joined in with Dad, softly and quietly, knowing this part of the song.

"And time will eventually knock on my door
And tell me I'm not needed around anymore
But he'll hold me so close at the end of the day
When I'm quiet I can nearly hear him say,

"Smile, the worst is yet to come
We'll be lucky if we ever see the sun
Got nowhere to turn, and we've got nothing but time
But the future is forever, the future is forever
So smile, so smile, so smile,

"Smile, the worst is yet to come
We'll be lucky if we ever see the sun."

I leaned back against Dad's chest, eyes closed, and feeling safe, and comfortable. "Thank you, Daddy," I whispered.
