Shield

Being a shield of someone is never easy,

You have to deal with the twists, even when you're not ready,

You must wear a mask, one with a smile on it,

Because you can't enlighten them, that you're shattering bit by bit,

It is hard to act like your best,

When you're heart is breaking inside your chest,

But how can you do this to me?,

The facade that I wore for too long, is showing the real me, for you to see,

Protecting you is fun, exciting, thrilling,

But would it still be that way when my heart is falling?

The shield, sturdy and strong,

Still be that way, when it's falling for someone wrong?

Would I still be okay?

When I know I won't be protecting you someday?

Would you still stay?

When you know something's here that isn't yesterday?
