Sirius' POV

Sirius sat on the hard wooden chair, watching as couple of adults talked in the next room.

The door was open but they talked quietly enough to hide their opinions and desicions from Sirius who just desperately wanted to know what to do. He needed to go over that same confessions about his father and mother and brother so many times that he started to feel that they were not real, only rehearsed lines in a school play.

He just wanted to settle down and have a home where he would get lunch even though he got bad grades and where he could go to sleep without fearing that he will wake up house on fire or alone in the woods or his brother and/or mother gone.

He just wanted to go and never be with them again. He had always loved and protected his parents when people asked about his bruises or hungry days. But now, after Remus, he could not bring himself to love them anymore. He had so many other things to love. James, Remus, Potters, Regulus... He had other people too. He didn't need his parents. He still felt somewhat sorry for his mother, but he was scared more than anything else. If he takes this to the end hopefully his mother would get help too.

Sirius leaned his head on the cold table and sighed. He had been going around this rumble for weeks. People talk and talk but nothing happens. Sirius glanced on his right to see Regulus sitting in the corner, reading a book he had found under one of the star cusions. He was just a child. Hell Sirius was just a child. He just wanted a childhood, was that too much?

Every day they were promised that it would be okay and that they would solve it today. Today. Tomorrow. Day after that. And weeks went by.

Sirius could not understand how hard it was for bunch of adults to see the problem and help. Was helping forbidden? Remus helped and he was accused of kidnapping. Maybe that was the reason there was so much bad out there. When people try to help each other they are blocked by law.

Sirius looked up as the door on his right opened and one of the women who always asked him questions walked in. Sirius braced himself for some more questions, but his serious face melted when he saw James walk in.

Sprakles lit inside the boy's eyes and he jumped up, sprinting to hug his best friend.
"Hey Sirius! Guess what!! Guess what what!" James yelled and jumped up and down while holding Sirius tight.
"James hush. Sit down." Mr.Potter said as he walked in and Sirius needed to let go of James and return to the table. Mrs.Potter joined them after asking Regulus to sit down too.

"How have you been honey?" Mrs.Potter asked, petting Sirius' hair.
"Good! Food is awful." Sirius said with a bright smile, clearly not meaning it at all.
"Did Remus have time to visit you?" Mr.Potter asked and Sirius shook his head.

Remus had not visited him after the day when Sirius first confessed. He called him every day though. Those phonecalls between Sirius Regulus and Remus were the highlight of the day sience he stopped going to public school as the decision of social services.
"Well he has been rather busy dealing with your business." Mrs.Potter said, rubbing her cheek with her hand.

"We are actually here to ask Regulus a question." Mr.Potter said and looked at the young boy, who looked back with hard face.
"Regulus would you like to join our family and become our son?" Mrs.Potter asked and the hard face Regulus was putting on broke in second, revealing confused and lost boy who could not believe what he heard.

Sirius looked at the Potters, his mouth gaped and eyes wide. They were really asking that? Hope flashed in his eyes but it went away quickly. But they asked only Regulus right? They didn't say anything about him. Sirius felt his eyes pinch and wet but he swallowed it away.
"Does that mean I get to move away from home?" Regulus asked, carefully.
"Yes."
"Then yes!" Regulus yelped happily and Sirius saw his lips turn upwards into a happy smile. Rare sight that Sirius loved.
