What the heck. It's all going down to ruins. Dad and I moved to escape the horrendous life we used to live in, with one less member. Then, I had to go to that emotional ordeal about Zoey, was unable to move my leg for about a month, and had to deal with the Rimsons again. After that, I find Ty and Zoey making out, and all goes to hell.
I looked back to see Zoey chasing me. This sucked. I ran anaerobically, increasing my speed. The lighthouse drew nearer, its light switched on to alert the sailors for the incoming storm.
I heard her call out for me, "Martin, stop! Wait!"
It started to drizzle, and the little raindrops showered us. As time flew by, the sand became more compact and wet. It stuck unto me as I sprinted across the dunes.
My stamina grew weaker, and the pain still didn't go away. I was huffing unvoluntarily. I looked back again, and she was gaining up on me. I halted at the cement pathway to the lighthouse's entrance, catching my breath. Zoey caught up to me, gasping as well.
"Martin," she gulped down her saliva. "Let me explain."
I yelled, "Oh yeah? What do you have to say for yourself?"
She replied, "Tyrone said sorry for what he did then. He also said that-"
"Sorry? For what?"
She stopped talking. The secret was in play; I can sniff one from afar. "Tell me," I insisted.
"Tyrone and I... accidentally kissed," she confessed.
"Ha!" I yelled hysterically. "I knew it."
"It's not what you think."
"How cliché. How very cliché."
"Martin, please. Listen to me. It's not exactly a kiss. Our lips just touched."
Like I was gonna believe that. I grabbed my vibrating phone, the screen telling me that Ty was calling. I didn't bother picking it up.
"Screw you, guys. I can't believe you."
"Listen!" she carried on. "All he said back there was that he was gonna help me-"
I interrupted her once more, "Help you with what?"
We were both still as stone. We both remembered that day when we said that same thing. I cursed my phenomenon.
"Look, it's just a misunderstanding."
"Oh, is it, really? I repeat. I find it hard to believe you."
"Okay," she shouted. "He also said he liked me. You got a problem with that?"
I held my breath there. I responded, "Of course I do. I like you, too!"
That was unexpected. Now, I can't believe even myself. I've let my emotions out, all in a snap. She blushed shyly, with a mild frown on her face.
"Ok...," she slowly said. "Just telling you. I don't like the Rimsons at all. Ty may be calm and cool, has that aura that's hard to explain, also has a voice that can lure any girl to him; not me. I know, not me."
"Then, do you like me?" I asked.
"It's...," she hesitated. "Not like that..."
"Then, that's a 'no'." I turned around, running away again in despair.
She held on to me, saying, "No, wait!"
I don't know what happened next. All I remember seeing back at that time was a flash of white, and then red, light, and after that, darkness.
