Aside from my hand, the two of us weren't really that gravely affected by the shock. Dr. Reed checked us and our vitals, and they don't seem to have major damage. Especially my heart. If that got fried into a crisp, then I would be dead on the spot. Doc said that we may feel lightheadedness and disorientation, but after that, not much would happen to us.

We had several of our classmates visit us at the hospital, since they couldn't find anything else that interesting to do. The lot, along with the Rimsons who happen to be the ones who informed them about the incident, gathered around us, saying all kinds of trivial things.

Someone said, "You two keep on getting into trouble."

"I know, right?"

"It's always you two."

Ty asked, "Them two?"

"Yeah, you don't know? They ended up in the hospital that other time. They sure suck at Frogger."

"What do you mean?"

I was tired of this conversation, so I spoke up, "You know, enough of that." Despite that, they continued on with the chatter.

"They were involved with a car accident; the very principal was driving the car, too. Martin jumped into the scene and rescued Zoey. Sorta. They still got hurt and broke their bones.

He glanced over his shoulder, getting a good look at us.

My classmates still went on rambling about us. One said, "Seriously, it must be destiny, or something."

Zoey's friends conversed in whispers, yet for me, it was clearly audible. They hushed in the middle of the hussle, "Zoey and Martin would be a really cute couple, wouldn't they? Zoey is nice, charming. And Martin is quite handsome for his type."

I pretended not to eavesdrop on the girl-talk. I looked at Zoey, who seemed a bit exhausted but exerted herself to listen to our friends. She kept smiling at them, despite being in the condition she was in. Well, I felt like that, too. Now that I think of it, I ferl really drowsy.

Luckily, good ol' Johnny came and dismissed the group. They all followed and headed to the door. When we were finally alone, Dr. Reed apologized, "Sorry, it must be tiring to have people here."

"Don't bother. Though I do feel sleepy."

Zoey sighed and laid down her head. "I have a light headache," she said.

Dr. Reed chuckled, "Of course, it's only natural. Struck by lightning, and you feel dizzy."

Before she could rest, I requested the doctor, "Can you give us a moment?"

He checked on us and nodded. "Sure, but take a rest, the two of you. It's better if you follow my instruction."

The instant he left, I turned to her. She was probably wondering why I wanted us to be alone. I took a deep breath and started to talk.

"You ok? You didn't look well to begin with."

"I'm... I'm fine, I just need to rest," she weakly mumbled.

"Hold on, before you do, I want to tell you something. I really want to get this out of my chest."

"What is it, Martin?" she questioned.

"Do you remember anything I may have said back then?" I hesitated to say.

Zoey put her hand over her forehead. She sighed, "I can't think that much right now, Martin. Maybe ask me again next time."

My hopes went down. "Oh," said I, "I see. You can rest now. That's all I wanted to say."

I closed my eyes and kept silent. I couldn't take that moment out of my head. I confessed that time, I found out that Zoey and Ty kissed, and that her feelings were for another guy. My chest felt heavier and heavier. I decided to sleep my way out of this one.
