Previous: As Derek walked away from the room, Jess couldn't help but feel utterly alone and she almost longed for him to come back.
Almost.
Jess wandered around the small room Derek had left her in and had found a closet and a bathroom. A bathroom. Thats what Jess needed.
She could feel her skin crawl as she thought of Isaac's hands grabbing her and she needed to get rid of that feeling.
Jess grabbed a towel from Derek's closet and closed the bathroom door behind her. She went over to the shower, leaned in and messed with the handles until water rained from above. Jess was drenched in seconds and cursed as she looked down at her dress. The dried mud that had been on her dress had now turned back into a swap.
Jess stripped down and filled the sink up with hot water and put her dress in hoping that by soaking it, it would help. She then turned and hopped in the shower, scratching at the mud on her skin and trying to wash away the dirty feeling that Isaac's hands left. She turned the water to a scorching hot temperature and stood, feeling the water practically burn her skin.
It felt incredibly relieving at the moment. She closed her eyes and felt the water run down her body and pool shallowly at her feet. Showers felt different as a werewolf, she thought. It was almost as if time was slowed down and the beating sound of the water drowned out the world. She had never appreciated it before.
After a few minutes more, Jess hopped out and wrapped the towel tightly around her body. She drained the water from the sink and washed out the rest of the dirt from her dress and then hung it up in the shower to dry.
As she hung up her dress she stopped in mid-action. Shit. Now, what was she going to wear? Jess went ahead and finished hanging up her dress and then rushed back into Derek's room. Clothes. She definitely needed clothes before he barged back into the room.
Or maybe she didn't...
She shook her head. She knew that was the full moon talking and not actually what she was feeling. Right? Honestly, Jess wasn't sure. She was confused and rushed and didn't really know what was going on with her brain and body. Either way, Jess decided that it would be best if she found some clothes and found them relatively quickly. She looked over at the pile of clothes on the floor next to Derek's bed and rummaged through them.
She found a large shirt and decided that it was clean enough for her to wear. It smelled like the woods and it filled Jess with happiness as she also smelled Derek's scent. It was intoxicating to her. Jess let the towel fall and adjusted the shirt to put it over her head when she heard footsteps coming towards the door.
Jess cursed under her breath and just got the long shirt on over her body as Derek barged into the room and quickly turned to lock the door behind him, not seeing Jess.
"Okay, So far so goo..."
Derek's breath hitched in his throat as he turned around to look at Jess. Her hair was a wild, curly wet mess and her cheeks were bright red. She was wearing his shirt and it landed just before her knees. Derek watched as Jess opened her mouth to say something, probably trying to explain why she had his shirt on, but Derek didn't care. A deep growl rumbled through his chest as he stared at his mate. Derek closed his eyes and urged his inner wolf to shut up and control himself, but it was extremely difficult.
Jess stood there watching Derek with his eyes closed and his biceps flexing as he clenched his fists by his side.
"Derek?" Jess asked cautiously, somewhat confused by what was going on.
Derek shook his head and let out a shaky breath.
"Give me a minute, okay?" Derek said turning back to the door, attempting to leave.
Jess stepped forward and Derek stopped with his hand on the door.
"Don't leave me again", she whispered.
She didn't know why she had said it but it was true. She didn't want him to go back out. She didn't want Erica to see him or be near him. Jess wanted him to be here for her.
Derek groaned and leaned his head on the door and pounded it one good time.
Jess jumped and decided to move forward again. The pain from the proximity of him increased with every step she took until finally she pushed herself the last step and touched him on the shoulder. All the pain disappeared and replaced with tingles going through her entire body. She gasped and as she did Derek whipped around and pinned her to the door.
Jess stared up at him in shock and touched his face lightly. How was she able to touch him and be okay but not anyone else?
"It doesn't hurt?" She said clearly confused.
Derek leaned forward and closed his eyes, brushing his lips ever so slightly over hers.
"Of course not...I'm your mate, remember?"
