Previous: "I...I need to talk to you about something", he said seriously, planting one last kiss on her neck.

She grumbled and turned around to face him.

"Right now?" She asked rolling her eyes at him.

He got very quiet and very seriously in an instant.

"Yes, right now" 

"You asked me why I needed Erica", Derek started but Jess cut him off. 

She walked over to the bed and plopped down on it, "Are we really going to talk about Erica right now?". 

She scoffed. How was he going to get her all reeved up and then mention Erica to her? What on Earth was he thinking? 

"I need all of them, Jess. We are about to go to war", Derek said clenching his fists. 

Jess sat up straight and looked at him seriously. 

"War?"

Jess knew that being a werewolf came with risks and it came with living a different kind of life but Derek had never mentioned war. Surely that should have come up. 

"There are hunters...more of them coming", Derek said darkly. 

Jess nodded her head, reaching out her hands to Derek. She scrunched and unscrunched her fingers a few times and after a few seconds Derek obliged and stepped closer. 

"I need you to be my Luna, Jess" 

She looked up at him and nodded her head, "So you've told me and I've agreed to it". 

Derek smiled slightly and nodded his head, "I just want you to know what you are getting yourself into". 

For some reason, that made Jess incredibly nervous. What had she gotten herself into? 

Jess wiped her eyes and propped herself on the wall watching the scene unfold before her. Derek had asked her to step up and be a Luna for the pack but walking in this morning into the warehouse and seeing these people in which she had no connection to didn't make her want to put her life on the line for them. Isaac had already tried to attack her a few days before and she could barely look at Erica without wanting to tear her throat out with her teeth. 

Isaac crouched down and growled at Derek. Jess almost scoffed. They were training and Isaac and Erica had already been beaten black and blue. At least they had spirit, she thought. She couldn't lie to herself, she was sort of enjoying this. 

Isaac darted at Derek and Derek easily picked him up and threw him like a rag doll. 

"Does anyone want to try not being completely predictable?", Derek asked throwing his hands up. 

Jess almost pushed herself off the wall and challenged him but before she could Erica waltz over and pulled him close to her planting a kiss on his lips. 

Jess' vision went red and before she knew it Derek was holding her back as she tried to rip Erica to shreds. 

"CALM DOWN," Derek said in his Alpha tone. 

Jess immediately stopped struggling but still stared Erica down. Derek's alpha tone had gotten her to calm down but it didn't diminish the fact that she wanted to kill Erica. 

Derek looked up at Erica fiercely and practically hissed at her. 

"That's the last time you do that"

Erica scoffed and set her hands on her hips, giving Jess a smirk.

"Why? Because I'm a Beta?", Erica pouted. 

Derek rolled his eyes and loosened his grip on a calming Jess. 

"I have someone else in mind for you," Derek said. 

Isaac, clearly annoyed, shuffled past the group towards the door of the warehouse.

"Are we done? I got a couple hundred bones that need a few hours to heal", he said glancing back at the group. 

The energy in the room seemed to shift again and Jess took a step away from Derek sensing his anger. 

"You're f*cking ungrateful. You think I'm teaching you how to fight? Im teaching you how to survive!", Derek yelled forcefully at Isaac. 

Isaac seemed unperturbed by Derek's outburst and took a few bold steps towards him.

"I don't know. But they're planning something. And you, especially, know that's not our only problem", Derek huffed and turned back towards Erica and Jess,  "Whatever that thing is that killed Isaac's father, I think it killed someone else last night. Until I find out what it is, you all need to learn everything that I know. As fast as I can teach you".

Derek broke a few more bones before dragging Jess out of the warehouse and pulling her aside. 

"I need your help," he told her frustratedly, looking out into the woods. 

"With what?", Jess asked cocking her head at him. 

His eyebrows knitted together and he breathed out a hurried breath. 

"...Sco..." His words mumbled off into incoherent grumbles.

He firmly crossed his arms and looked up at the sky. He was equally frustrated and stubborn. 

Jess tried her best to make sense of the words but he was being absolutely incoherent. 

"Im sorry, what?"

"..Sco..and...Sti..." he mumbled off again. 

Jess slightly covered her mouth with her hand trying hard not to giggle at Derek. 

"Who?", Jess asked trying to encourage the words to come out of his mouth. 

"SCOTT AND STILES OKAY?", Derek said frustratedly. 

Jess tried to contain her laughter and just proceeded to nod her head up and down. 

"Yeah, okay. What about them?"

"Stiles may have seen something. A...monster of some kind. If anyone knows about monsters it would be the mythology and folklore major", he said reaching forwards to grab Jess' hand. 

She squeezed Derek's hand tight and shook her head, "Derek, my class is all about historical fiction. It isn't real life..." 

Derek chuckled, "says the werewolf". 

Damn. He did have a point there, Jess thought. 

"Besides," Derek said looking down sheepishly, "I-I'm not the best at talking civilly with people". 

Good point, Jess thought. He did have a tendency to try to kill people. Maybe it would be better if I were to talk with them.

"Fine. We will go talk with them but I can't promise I'll know anything about this 'monster'", Jess said uncertainly. 

Derek just smiled at her and raised his eyebrows, "You'd be surprised how many monsters and legends are real".
