josh woke the next morning in his small bed, light from the sun peeking in through the blinds. he sat up and stretched, taking a moment to recall moments from the day before. he smiled as he got out of bed and got dressed. he couldn't wait to have an entire day alone with tyler, and go on that walk as he'd promised.

he walked out of the room and headed into the living room area, searching for tyler, who was nowhere to be seen. josh shrugged, assuming he was still asleep. he was pretty hungry though, so he went into the kitchen to see if there was anything quick to eat. would it be rude to look around in his kitchen? josh thought, hesitant. the sound of his stomach growling, however, pushed him to do it.

josh was looking through the fridge when he heard tyler come into the kitchen. "good morning," tyler said.

josh quickly stood up, embarrassed to have been caught in tyler's fridge. "uh- good morning!" he said, his face turning a deep shade of red. tyler laughed at the sight of the other boy's blush.

"are you hungry? i can make breakfast."

josh nodded his head in agreement. "that would be nice, thank you. i'm starving." tyler mumbled a quick 'mhm' in response and headed over to the pantry.

"are pancakes okay? im running a little low on breakfast foods." he grabbed a box of bisquick and set it down on the counter. "its not fancy, but its still good."

josh smiled. "that's completely fine. id probably eat anything at this point."

tyler started making breakfast and josh made himself comfortable seated at the dining room table. "so, how'd you sleep?" tyler asked.

"i slept fine," josh said. in all truth, he'd slept terribly- thoughts of tyler kept him awake until the early hours of the morning. "how about you?"

"i slept okay as well. i don't usually sleep much anyway, though," tyler responded. he made up a plate of some pancakes and brought it over to where josh was sitting. "enjoy," tyler said with a wink. josh dug in, not bothering to wait for tyler to join him at the table.

"these are delicious," josh said. "my compliments to the chef."

tyler smiled. "the chef says thank you, and would like to join you for breakfast, if you don't mind." he walked into the dining room and sat in the seat across from josh.

"i wouldn't mind that at all," josh said, slowing down a bit on his pancakes.

"so last night i was thinking about where we could go today on our walk. there's a really nice park near here, or there's a forested trail a little bit farther from there. personally, i like the trail because it's a bit more private, but it's totally up to you," tyler said.

"hmm," josh thought about it. "the forested trail sounds intriguing. we should do that one."

tyler grinned. "i was hoping you'd say that. there are some tables at the end of the trail so we could pack a picnic lunch too." having finished his breakfast, he stood and brought his dish to the sink. josh followed suit, also finished with his breakfast. "is it okay if we leave in just a few minutes?"

"yeah, that sounds good," josh said, excited for lunch. he wanted to leave as soon as possible.

"great! just give me some time to make our lunch." tyler began putting together the things necessary for sandwiches.

"do you need any help? josh asked. "i feel bad making you do everything."

tyler smiled at josh. "that would be very helpful, thank you. could you actually make these sandwiches while i go and finish getting ready?"

josh nodded and took tyler's place in the kitchen. he made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for both of them, cutting each one into triangles. he remembered seeing some strawberries in tyler's fridge, so he took those out and placed them with the sandwiches he'd just prepared. tyler came back out of his room a few moments later, ready to go, and with his camera in hand. "what's that for?" josh inquired, trading places with tyler in the kitchen again.

"i was thinking we could take some photos today," tyler said, handing his camera to josh so he could pack up the sandwiches and the strawberries. he grabbed two bottles of water from the fridge, one for each of them, and packed those up as well. "the area at the end of the trail has wonderful lighting."

"that sounds great," josh said, following tyler as he walked out of the kitchen. the two boys pulled on their shoes and headed out to tyler's car. "it's just a quick drive from here. want to put on some music?" tyler handed josh the aux cord. josh plugged it into his phone and began playing 'location' by khalid.

"oh yes, i love this song," tyler said, as he began singing the words. josh smiled and looked at the boy to his left. he looked so adorable, and his singing was just beautiful. he turned back to his phone and queued some more nice songs for the drive. so far, the day was going pretty well.
