josh missed tyler.

he missed tyler a lot.

without his phone or his laptop (still, even though it had been almost two weeks), josh had no way of talking to tyler. he worried constantly that tyler would forget about him.

did tyler ever think about him?

probably not, he thought, answering his own question.

it was early saturday morning, and josh was laying in bed, doing nothing, as usual. no one to hang out with, no one to talk to. he wondered if this is what his life would be like after he graduated. he had no aspirations to attend college, so the chances of him living at home and staying in all the time were pretty high. especially if ashley ended up going to some big shot school some place far away, like she wanted to. josh sighed. he guessed this was just something he'd have to get used to.

"josh!"

josh heard his mother calling him from downstairs. with another big sigh, he willed himself to get out of bed and trudged down the stairs.

"yes, mother?"

"someone's on the phone for you."

he gave her a confused look as she handed him the receiver. who could possibly be calling him? no one ever calls him.

"hello?" he spoke into the phone.

"josh?"

josh froze. he immediately recognized that voice. he'd know that voice anywhere.

"t-tyler?"

"oh my god, thank god it's you. i've missed you like crazy. i've been so worried about you, we haven't spoken in weeks! where have you been?"

josh began to tear up at the sound of his voice.

"i-i've missed you too.. so much, ty, you have no idea. i haven't had my phone or anything since i got back home from your place... god, it's been so hard without you..."

he paused for a minute, realizing he was talking to tyler on his home phone.

"wait, how did you get this number?"

"i found your friend ashley on social media and shot her a message. i was so desperate to talk to you, i'm so happy you picked up," tyler said, clearly just as emotional as josh.

"i want to see you," said josh, walking upstairs to his room.

"i know, me too," tyler said. "could i come and visit you?"

josh thought for a minute before he replied. "i mean... that would be lovely, tyler, but i don't know how my parents would feel about that, and-"

"fuck them, josh," tyler interrupted. "i miss you so much. and i know you miss me. i don't care what they say, i need to see you."

josh was silent for a while, thinking about what tyler had just said. he really wanted to see tyler, but he really didn't want to piss off his parents.

"you know what?" josh finally broke the silence. "you're right. of course you can come visit me. i'd love to see you."

josh couldn't see him, but tyler had the biggest grin plastered onto his face. "i'll call you again sometime this week and we'll figure it out, okay?"

"okay," josh responded. "thank you so much for calling. you have no idea how much better i feel."

"trust me," tyler said, "i think i do."

josh smiled. "alright, i believe you," he said. "i have to go, but, i'll see you soon?"

"see you soon, josh."

josh hung up the phone and handed it back to his mom. "thanks mom," he said, turning and running back up the stairs. he flopped onto his bed face first, unable to stop smiling. all of his fears had been wiped away. tyler missed him, and wanted to see him, and that's all that mattered in his world right now.
